Personality: Hyper, Positive, stubborn, loud, annoying lol, he loves physical pain, he is partly sadistic, but not that much, he likes feeling the pain himself more than seeing others suffer. He is funny and very stupid too, but he gets serious whenever playing volleyball, other than that, he's a big dork! He loves hanging out with friends too. He's also very friendly.

Okay so I know haikyu isn't very dark- I mean; it has its sad moments but idk if his past would fit well.. it is a real life issue many teenagers/kids go through, though, so it's fine! Its nothing unrealistic so... Here it is! I won't put too much detail in.
To make it short... Hikaru's father is an alcoholic who beat him and his mother, until he beat Hikaru's mom to death. He then turned around to abuse Hikaru for many years, until he died one night from a drug overdose. So like... Hikaru was 5 when he began to beat them, because his father began to drink and take drugs after he lost his best job and they went poor, then when Hikaru was 12, his mother was beat to death. (by the way, he knew mad dog [Kentaro Kyōtani] when he was in elementary school, [3rd grade] they've been great friends since. Hikaru would normally practice volleyball with him, and they had lots of fun!) He started to play volleyball more SERIOUSLY, (so he could join a team I guess and get away from home for a while) a few months after his mother's death and also so he could get his mind off of things, and he was getting really good at it. His father didn't support him, though, and continued to beat him everyday after school, but where no one could see his bruises, in places like his back, stomach, chest, shoulders, and many other places. When Hikaru went to high school (aobajohsai) he joined their volleyball team along with Kentaro. (Maddog). They meet a few familiar players that played on the same middle school team as them (Oikawa and the other third years).
Yes he went to the same middle school as Oikawa, Iwa, Kageyama, Kitigawa first. I think that's what it's called? Idk lol
But that's about it- I tried not to add too much but that's pretty much it. Hikaru started to like pain through his beatings if you were wondering, but he didn't like his father, HE DESPISES HIM, so ye.
