It was certainly not so late into the day, when night has fallen upon the city faster than expected, a coat of heavy darkness covering everything around. Only some of the street's lights were barely piercing through, to highlight few spots on the sidewalk.
They say we live in the moment, that the past is always gone, and each day is something new, a stepping stone into a future we dream of even in the cold. But, 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘥𝘰, 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘮𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘪𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦, 𝘳𝘶𝘪𝘯 𝘪𝘵, 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘪𝘵 𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵, 𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘣𝘪𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 𝘭𝘦𝘧𝘵;l𝘦𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘥𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘢 𝘴𝘦𝘢 𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘳𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘴?

The night sky stood as an inky canopy of darkness ,freckled only by the fewest of stars. A glimpse of the moon fell to the ground, gentle rays caressing the thin snow layer, embracing the earth.
A frail silhouette was walking down the street, unbothered by the stinging cold. Beautiful black hair falling down his back to reach the hips, mulling against his body within each movement of the harsh wind; voiding eyes piercing through the thick, tensed atmosphere. 𝘐𝘭𝘭𝘶𝘮𝘪.
The first flake falling that day, an icy dart shooting from the sky, landed on his pale, soft skin, to later melt into a pool of ghostly presence.

𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘵?

As snow danced in the light, a choreographed ballet conducted by the estranged breeze, a sweet, suave song slowly started playing from the speakers stuck nearby. It was December 23th,the night before Christmas. Although his family never actually celebrated anything like so, the assassin found the mere concept of worshipping a season, quite interesting.

Slow steps being pushed against the ground, cracking up the shallow layer of white powder. He looked up and knocked on the door. His body stopped listening to him, this whole time, actually going to his house.

"What- oh, Illu~" A soft voice purred from behind the woden panel, Hisoka stepping aside.
"Come on in, it's cold outside" He spoke again, welcoming the black haired into a warm house, decorated with small Christmas figurines, the fireplace burning with intensity.

"Is there anything you wish to tell me? Do you want something to drink? " The questions followed rushily, the magician gesturing he sits down. It was a surprise to see the other come over all of a sudden;but of course, he couldn't complain about that.

"Yes, that'd be nice" Was all Illumi managed to reply with, quite avoiding the first interrogation. He was embarrassed, one could say. How was he supposed to explain, that he came there just because he wanted to see him;he felt lonely.

It didn't take long and the jester walked back with two cups of hot chocolate sprinkled with marshmallows, handing one to the black haired.

"Such a coincidence, I was just thinking of how much I missed you~" Hisoka smiled, brushing a few strays of the other's hair, out of his face. If there was anything he enjoyed more than fighting, that was spending time with the Zoldyck.

"May I spend the night here?"

The magician's eyes widened slightly as he barely choked on his drink.
"Yes of course! I mean, sure, if you want to-"
It wasn't necessarily that he didn't want him to stay there, but only the question gave him goosebumps. He thought his family wouldn't allow him to stay anywhere else but the mansion, and the fact that he willingly wanted to sleep there, with him, was certainly warming his heart. In a way suspicious, yet again, it was sweet.

"Great then, thank you. " Illumi spoke in a low voice as he took a sip off his hot chocolate smiling to himself. Even if he didn't want to admit it, nor think about it, he craved the jester's touch, a little sign of affection.
That's why, when he felt Hisoka's hand wrap around his waist to pull him closer, a wave of warmth filled his body, making him soften more than he was supposed to.

"Well, since it's already late enough, how about we drift off to sleep? You must be tired as well. " The other said comfortingly, putting both of the cups aside to lay down on the couch.

"Mhm"

A hum followed as the black haired scooted closer to Hisoka, burying his face in the base of his neck. The embrace was warm and he felt safe in the arms of the man, standing up to move to the bed not being a good idea; Therefore, not even a few minutes passed by and the two lovers had fallen asleep on the sofa.

The next morning, Illumi woke up a little agitated, dazed off from the rest, yet calmed down as he saw the other next to him, holding him in a hug.
He tilted his head sideways to throw a glance at the window, noticing heavy snow being powdered over the earth, knocking for the lightest on the glass. Truly a beautiful view, especially since he always liked snow, feeling the coldness of it.
The assassin sighed, finding a good position and closing his eyes back up, not willing to stir the magician yet. He found it quite amusing, how vulnerable he suddenly became. It only needed a shred of affection from the right person.

"Good morning Illu, merry Christmas~" A soft voice spoke as Hisoka leaned forward, closing the gap between them, sealing it with a kiss. He had woken up before the Zoldyck, but didn't say anything to announce it.

It was only then, Illumi realized how many he missed during his lifetime. That sweet touch of their lips, that spiked happiness through his body, something he has never felt before.

Author's note:
There you go, finally a happy ending, soft Hisoillu one shot. Honestly, I've never written anything as such, so this was quite out of my comfort zone. As you could see, I'm wack when it comes to anything other than angst. However, since I love both Christmas and Hisoillu, I believe the finished product is decent. Hope you liked it; some fluff after angst is always welcomed, right? :)
