As she swaggered up to him, she put on a confident front, but inside she was nervous about what she was about to do, and ready to cry.

"Do you want to go out with me?" she stated.

"No." A flat tone to match his flat personality.

She walked away humiliated, but with her head high. 

"I'll go out with you!" another boy yelled out laughing before adding "When you get a life!" His friends all laughed like this was such a great comeback, and while it was trashy, she still crumbled inside.

I watched silently, wishing she would come over and ask me. But she would never ask out another girl, the teasing would just get worse. Maybe I had to ask her.
