"Happy birthday, Valerie!" Leena cries out as she dives forward and jumps on top of her daughter. Valerie lets out a scream and when she found that it was her own mother she tried to fight her off. "My baby is growing up so fast!" Leena wiped away the fake tears and hugged her little girl tighter, grinning at her daughter's struggle. "Oh what I would give to have you as my baby again!" She wailed out a fake cry, smothering her daughter in her blanket and messing her hair up even more.

"Mom! Stop!" Came her raspy morning voice. "I can't breathe!"

Leena rolled off holding back her laughter. When Valerie finally was able to escape she glared at her innocent playing mother. Leena looked down to her watch. "Oh would you look at the time!" She said and darted off. Valerie growled out and threw her pillow and had it hitting the door on Leena's way out. She angrily brushed her hair down and tried to untangle it as she ran her fingers through. "God damn it," she curses getting off her bed and heading to the bathroom.

She fixed her hair as best as she could and did her morning routine. Pulling on some clothes she headed out her bedroom to see Sebastian walking towards her looking down at his phone with furrowed brows. She stood there waiting for him to wish her a happy birthday but when he didn't even look up she frowned. "Good morning Seba," she said happily only for him to give her a nod.

"Hey," he answers quietly, not looking up from his phone, as he continues to pass her.

She glared at him. Shutting her door she quickly made her way towards him and then jumped onto his back, holding onto him firmly around the shoulders. He quickly caught them both. He turned his head to look at the person angrily. When he saw that it was Valerie, his heart nearly stopped. He let out a breath and recomposed himself and carefully got her off his back. Sebastian pulled her arms off of him and stood an arm's length away from her. Something she has been noticing for the longest time. Her shoulders slacken as the look he had on his face was unreadable. "What is it Valerie?" He says in his usual business like tone making her glare at him.

After staring at each other with her not saying anything, Sebastian broke eye contact and looked away. "Look, if you don't have anything important to say, I have to meet up with godfather."

In a fit of anger, she shoved him back and stormed past him. Valerie angrily made her way downstairs and into the dining room where the rest of her family were patiently waiting for her. Once she entered, the streamers went off and everybody surprised her with a loud "Happy birthday!" In reply, she all but went over to her dad and grabbed his arm. She pouted up to him as he stared down at her confused. "What's so important between Beta David and Sebastian that Sebastian has to completely ignore me on my birthday?!"

Dante chuckled and hugged his daughter and then looked to Leena for help who all but rolled her eyes at him. "It is their business not ours sweetheart," Leena said giving her husband a glare and then pulled Valerie out of his embrace. She smiled at her daughter and brushed away her hair and cupped her face. "You have to remember, Sebastian is in the works of becoming the next Beta so if you want him to be angry at you and interrupt his chance of getting the position then you are more than welcome to do it."

Valerie had completely forgotten about it. She stared at her mother in guilt. "Shoot..." she scolds herself as she bites the inside of her bottom lip. Leena smiled and hugged her daughter. "Now! You have finally turned seventeen. Make a wish!" She turns Valerie towards the cake. Valerie clasps her hands together and closes her eyes. "I wish..." she starts out while she thought about what she wanted to wish for. "That I will able to find a mate who treats me just as good as Sebastian." The thought warmed her chest but when she really thought about it, Valerie noticed how he hasn't been treating her like used to making her drop her hands in irritation.

Leena looked between Valerie and Dante and then forced on a smile. "Are you gonna blow out your candles now?" She slowly asks as the candles were starting to get too close to the cake. Sky and her slowly watched in horror as Valerie was deep in her thoughts.

"It's getting too close, Val. Hurry up and make your wish," Sky rushes out.

The door to the dining room open making all four of them look over to him. Valerie stares on as Sebastian walked over to the fridge and blindly reached up and felt for a waterbottle, still on his phone. Valerie couldn't help but stare at him. Leena lightly smacked Dante on the arm and silently told him to get Sebastian off the phone. Dante cleared his throat. "Son, come and wish your sister a happy birthday."

Sebastian turned around and placed the bottle down. He finished his text and then looked up and around to find them looking at him. He looked to find the cake in the middle of the table with the candles completely burned out. When Leena looked to the cake she let out a cry of horror. "The cake!" Both her and Sky whines. Leena pushes Valerie aside by the shoulder and as quickly as possible takes the wax off with the help of Sky. They grimaced when the icing came off. Sebastian looks to Valerie who was still staring at him sadly.

God damn.... He swooned to himself. He quickly recomposed himself. Sebastian took in a deep breath and forced on a smile. "Happy birthday Valerie. I wish you enough." He looked to his parents. "If nothing else, I have to go." He looked to Valerie one last time and then left the room.

Valerie quickly follows him out of the house and before he could get any further, she grabs at his arm and pulls him back, holding him in place. Sebastian looks over and stares down at her as she pouts up to him. His heart raced and the warm tingles traveled up his arm and then throughout his body. He wanted her to stay where she was but he knew it can't be done. Shouldn't be done. He pulled his arm back but she held it in place and moved herself in front him.

"Valerie," he started.

"You're spending time with me today," she commands with stern eyes.

He wanted to cave in. He would love to spend all his time with her. Just to stare at her, just to hear her voice and to be in her presence...he would die for it. Sebastian let out a sigh and pulled his arm back and gently pushed her away by the shoulders and held her in place. He leaned down to her eye level and gave her a smile. "Sorry Valerie. Not today, okay?"

"I'm not a child," she argue angrily, pushing his hands away as he stared back surprised. "Seba," she whines wrapping her arms around his waist so he wasn't able to move and placed her chin on his chest. "Please," she cutely pleaded him making it harder for him to refuse her.

He smiled. "I thought you weren't a child?"

Valerie cracks a small smile but continues to pout. "Seba-uh~."

But he played along with her. He wrapped his arms around her and embraced her firmly, loving how she felt in his arms. He threw his head back and whined. "Valerie, I can't-uh. I got work to do," he playfully whined exasperated.

Valerie giggled as she pushed herself away from him and playfully slapped his shoulder. He blocked her hit as he grinned. She whined and pouted some more, grabbing his wrist. "Pretty please?" She pleads.

Sebastian smiled and lingered a kiss to her forehead. "What else can I do for you to let me go do my work peacefully?" He asks against her skin.

She thought about it deeply and then shook her head, backing away. "I want you to spend time with me like you used to. You don't even spend time with me anymore! You're always so busy and every time you see me you avoid me like the plague."

He smirked. "A beautiful plague at that," he counters with a chuckle. He kisses her cheek and quickly backs away. He grabs her by the shoulders and moved her out of the way. "I seriously have to go. Behave." He quickly walks away from her before she can stop him again. Valerie sadly watches him go and get into his car. He starts it up and looks out the window and waves to her. Valerie reluctantly waves back with a small smile and stands there until she wasn't able to see him anymore.

Valerie goes back into the house to finish her morning with her family and then got herself ready to go over to her best friend's house to hang out with her for the rest of the day.
