Screaming.
It was the first thing Frank heard upon entering the trial grounds. The clearing fog offering up more visibility as he took in his surroundings and drew out his favorite hunting knife. The old worn grip offered focus as he took in deep shaking breaths. He wasn't nervous though. Far from it in fact.
He was excited.
Donning his mask, worn and stained with blood, dirt and the remnants of a sharpie marker. He cut through the thick haze and made his way towards the sounds of faint whispering and whimpering. Every step causing his blood to pump harder and his heart to beat faster.
"Let's do this." He grumbled, ducking between pine trees and looking through to a large clearing of corn and wheat. The dark blue hues of the moon through the forest thickets turning pale orange and yellow as he traversed onto the farmland.
"huh... Is there more than one farm? this looks a bit different." Frank muttered as he lift his mask enough to see better, taking to note the turned over and run down silo off in the distance. He was a bit confused. But it didn't matter much. Time was ticking and as he bounced on his heels rhythmically to see over the corn, he scowled at how bad the visibility was.
"Fuckin- tall ass corn..." He winged, knowing just how much harder this was going to make his trial. It didn't matter though, in places he couldn't see. He would listen.
Crouching down he felt the wet earth and mud between his fingertips. Focusing his thoughts and feelings until a rumbling sensation came through, followed by the sound of grinding gears and live wires being tampered with.
Someone was on a generator and they where close.
Pushing forward on the pads of his feet, Frank made a mad dash as he ran towards the sound. With every step he took he could feel something cold and electric swim through his veins powering him on faster as his dash turned frenzied run. Like a cold water on a sunburn, it awoke his nerves and pushed him on to run faster than his muscles could take.
Clearing through the corn field and entering a slight clearing of trees and haystacks he found the first one. A fiery redhead known for her sprint, as her eyes met his though he could feel the excitement renew as he caught a glimpse of her fear.
Bringing down his knife in a hard, long swipe. Cold steel met warm skin as he cut deep into her right arm and leg, causing her to cry out in pain and terror as her fight or flight instincts caught on; Bringing her to her feet and forcing her to run through the agony. Frank's own body however seized as his muscles spasmed with pain from their over exertion. He hated this feeling, like sobering up after a fix. The pain and sweat as his hands began to feel iced and clammy.
"Fuck.." Frank grunted, pushing on to follow her and hopefully finish the job.
Stalking after the redhead, he let her trail of blood guide him on until the pain in his muscles subsided and he was able to corner her at the run down silo. Watching her hobble and trip from how badly he had injured her leg. In his mind, it was a lucky swing and it brought with it a sadistic glee from watching her suffer.
"What's wrong Meg? Rock in your shoe?" Frank teased her mercilessly like a high school bully, loving the angry scowl she gave him as she backed herself against the old rotted wall.
"Get stuffed Frank." Meg snarled painfully, sweat dripping from her face heavily enough to disguise the tears of pain she had been fighting back from showing him. She was pissed. Not even a single generator done and of course she was first to go.
"No thanks babe, That ain't my style. But you? I bet your head will look fucking great on my wall!" Frank laughed. Twirling the blade of his knife between his fingers before holding it earnestly with intent to harm.
