Being a vampire wasn't easy for James. Wandering around the earth for 261 years now. Always having to see his friends die or having to fake his own death as it wasn't very common to not age at all. It was bound to draw questions. Then he would have to find new ones again. That always being an emotionally exhausting process. Especially since James knew he was going to lose them again eventually. So, he came to the point where he decided to just stay alone. Isolating himself from the world.

But then, one day, everything was to be changed. James was walking down the street in the night. Only a few streetlamps illuminating his way. It was already way past midnight, the sun longer gone than it was to be rising again. The street was calm and quiet, until suddenly the vampire heard a sound. A scream to be exact. He immediately started running towards the source of the scream, as it sounded quite panicked.

Sprinting towards the side street he could already see the producer of the screams. A young boy lying on the ground. Two tall figures leaning over the victim. James fastened his steps. Once closer one could identify the figures as a woman and a man. Vampires on their hunt for blood. They seemed to be young vampires, new to the hunting game. They had to be, as older vampires up from having been turned for thirty years or more learn to feed from animals. Their system having to adapt to the different structure and consistence of the other blood.

James sprang into action, lunging forward at the two of his kind. Pushing and pulling the other vampires off of the young man. He succeeded to part them from the boys rather easily, as he was stronger and more experienced than them. The two young vampires looked up at him with a scared expression on their face. James sighed. "Look I know you're young and all, but try to feed from animals or blood-sacks.", he told them, "It's easier and your quilty feeling will go away. Believe me. I've done this for a long time."

Then he picked up the boy laying on the cold concrete floor. His body limp and unconscious in his arms. With one last look back at the two immortal he started walking away. Taking off  in the direction of his flat. He arrived there when the first sunbeams were already decorating the sky. They wouldn't hurt him, thanks to his special ring, but they still made James uneasy. With quick steps he sped the last few metres to his flat and unlocked the door. Then entering with the still unconscious boy.

Only after placing the body on his couch did he realise that he was barely alive. His breathing shallow and only little blood left in his systems due to the other vampires draining it from him. It was a miracle he even had a spark of life in him. A little panicked James paced his flat searching for anything to try to keep and grow that spark. Anything to keep the boy alive. He had too little blood though. James noticed how the younger grew weaker by the minute. That's when he realised there wasn't really anything he could to rescue that boy. Nothing, unless...

He remembered hearing about how you can safe a human who was bleeding to death by biting them and injecting then your poison through the teeth. Making a quick decision without even thinking much, he leaned down to the boy's neck. Bringing his lips to the soft skin, tearing apart with his sharp teeth. Warm human blood hit them and James had to keep himself from drinking every last drop. It had been decades - centuries - since he last tasted it. He managed to compose himself, though and concentrated on the poison instead. I was normally used to paralyse the victim. Too much would kill the human so he had to get the exact amount.

After injecting what was, what he thought, the right amount, he couldn't do much more that wait. And hope. He didn't know why, but he really hoped the boy would wake up. Something drew him in. He wanted to spend so much more time with him. Time where the other was actually conscious. James was curious, wanted to know everything there was to know about the mystery boy on his couch. But for now he could only be nervous and wait for him to wake up.

Sorry that I haven't updated in forever!! I'm having a really stressfull year in school right now. I have to write the VWA, which is like some kind of academic research paper or whatever and has to be at least 40 thousand charakters long. Then at the end of the year (it's my last school year) I have the Matura, which is probably comparable with the A-Levels, Abitur, bac. And the lockdown right now is also not really helping with the stess as we get many assignments and also have online classes.
But I'm going to try to write regularly again now. Also sorry if this one isn't that good. After not writing for a while it always takes some time for me to get into it again. I hope you enjoyed nonetheless. Please vote, comment and tell me what you think.
