It has been two weeks since I was introduced to Ryan. He frequent the hospital to see how I was doing but today was the day I was leaving the hospital. My grandma will be staying with me here in California. After which, she will go back to Nigeria once I was done with high school.
"Hello Sandra. Are you ready to leave the hospital?" Ryan asked me and that feeling again came back. We've been talking after he introduced himself. We've been close friends. He encouraged me. He prayed with me. He was very caring. He brought gift anytime he visited me. That action drew him to me.
Grandma on the other hand has been here for me. Always comforting me anytime I remembered that my dad and mum were gone. I talked to grandpa on phone. He will be here for father's burial tomorrow. He should be on his way here. Grandpa has always encouraged me. He made me laugh even during my difficult times. He calls grandma everytime to check up on me.
I couldn't answer Ryan's question only nodded. I don't know what was wrong with me but I plan to find out.
"Are you alright? Now a days, you don't answer my question only nod to them. I feel like I've done something wrong. But if I have, then Sandra, forgive me" with that, I melted. He doesn't deserve this. He has always been nice to me and grandma. He paid my bills. He stayed when I had no one to stand by me until grandma came.
"Nothing, I'm fine. You did nothing wrong. I just want to thank you for all you have done for my grandma and I. I can't pay you back for what you've done for me but when I recover, I will. I must pay you back." Sandra said thankfully before giving him a big hug.
"You don't have too, my dear. You are the sister I never had. Thank you for coming to my life." I nodded realising he never liked me in that way and it angered me. Why does it even anger me anyways?
"I don't want to be your sister." I whispered. I don't want to be his sister. Never. Maybe his wife. What was wrong with me?
I just hope Ryan didn't hear that.
"What did you say?" He asked and I just shook my head whispering nothing.
But Ryan heard her and that made him happy. He just pretended that he didn't hear to know her reaction.
He just smiled and stayed with her for a while waiting for her grandmother.
Then the Holy Spirit spoke to Sandra in a still small voice. "Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."
But Sandra was confused wondering why the Holy spirit said those words to her.
Again another scripture came to her. "He that hath an ear let him hear." With that she came out of her trance.
"Sandra, what happened? We have been talking to you for five minutes but you were not answering. Are you okay, my dear?" Ryan asked her and with that, her cheeks warmed up with that endearment.
She told her grandmother everything the Holy spirit said to her.
Her grandmother already understood. She looked at Sandra and Ryan.
"Ryan, could you excuse us? I need to talk to my grandchild." The old woman asked politely. Ryan nodded in understanding hoping she would be alright.
"Grandma, what is it that made you send Ryan out? It must be really important." Sandra said to her grandma urgently waiting for her to respond.
"Yes, my dear. I just wanted to tell you what the Holy Spirit meant by those scripture." Sandra said urged her grandma to continue.
Meanwhile, the devil and his agent were watching.
"We need to stop her or all our plans would be ruined." The devil said angrily.
"But how? The Most High said we shouldn't kill anyone. We can't kill her or the deal is off" one of the agent said.
"No, he didn't say that. He said I should not hurt Sandra. Which I will do. But that woman will jeopardize our plans." Satan explained.
"But we will lose a soul, Lucifer. Our target is to bring souls to hell not lose them." The queen of the marine appeared out of no where and said.
"Enough Medusa, don't you know that this is our investment. If we prove that we can win Sandra, it means we can win anyone." Satan explained, angry at Medusa for questioning him but he knew better not to say anything.
"You lost before I hope you remember." Medusa reminded him. They all knew.
"Yes, with Job." Satan answered.
"What makes you think you won't lose. Don't you know that anyone the Most High trust, we can't win over them. They are precious in his eyes. They don't disappoint him. Job didn't. You were even stupid enough to tempt His Son. You had the mind to tempt the creator of this earth with his own creation then he rubbished you. You won't kill that old woman only for her to make heaven. I won't accept that." Medusa snarled at Lucifer.
"Yes I will. She would spoil the plan if I don't. Medusa if we win this time, it will make us more powerful. Don't you think?" Satan tried to convince her but it didn't work.
"Never. I won't be part of this. I just got tired of your stupidity when Damon told me you went to meet the Most High again for a challenge. If you had nothing to do, tell us and we will help you out" Medusa said.
"Get out of my kingdom. I will prove you wrong." He snapped his fingers and the old woman held her chest crying in pain. The devil laughed together with his agent but Medusa laughed and looked at Lucifer.
"Now, you have angered the Most High. I hope you know what you have just done." With that, she disappeared.
In the mean time, Sandra waited for her grandmother to explain.
"Sandra, Ryan is ---" the old woman held her chest and screamed before collapsing and everything turned black for Sandra when the doctor said her grandmother was dead.
