You Tried To Hide It

If you stay strong they won't have to know,

If you hide the pain they'll think you're okay.

You keep your walls up to shut them out,

But we both know they'll see someday.

You push the thought out of your head,

After all, you think you'll be alright.

You're crying now, remembering what they said.

One more scream, one more cut, the blade slips.

Oh shit! Now you're dead.

You kept everything to yourself,

Didn't let them see you cry.

Now you're dead and they're confused,

Your whole life was a lie!

Your parents see and blame themselves.

They had no clue you were living in hell.

Inside your own brain, where no one could find you.

Now your friends, they find out,

And they want to die too.

It's a chain reaction.

Don't you see?

It's not just you who's living in misery.

So put down the knife,

Put down the gun,

Think about the big picture,

And try to have a little fun.

Laugh a little more,

Cry a little less,

And who knows,

Maybe your life won't turn out to be such a mess.

You will be okay,

I hope I'm not too late.

Next time you want to hurt yourself,

Think of this poem,

And maybe hesitate.

Your demons are powerful.

Yes, this is true.

But there is one thing you're forgetting.

No one knows you better,

Than you
