Shouting...

That's all your parents ever did...

You lifted your heavy eyelids, you grumbled at being woken up from your much needed sleep, you sighed as you wanted to sleep more but the sound of your parents arguing kept your mind from drifting back into the blissful sleep your body needed. It was the same as the night before, your parents yelling kept you from being able to sleep until the moon was high in the night sky, and to be woken so early in the night meant that you hadn't gotten much sleep and your small body was tired and exhausted but the racket that your parents were making was starting to hurt your ears so you decided that you were going to go for a walk away from all the noise, you didn't know what exactly what you were going to do but it was going to be better than just lying in bed.

You sat up and rubbed your eyes as you lifted the dirty sheet you call a blanket off of your body. your parents had always thought of their comfort and first before yours so you didn't have anything new or clean, whatever clothes or toys you got were used and old, the very few toys they'd give you were broken and falling apart so you usually just had to play by yourself with random objects like sticks or leaves. You stood up and walked across the empty room that you called yours and once you were in front of the door you opened it and slowly closed it behind yourself with a small click, you continued to walk down the hallway in your house to the front door. you walked passed the open doorway to the kitchen where your parents were arguing about something "I'm going outside..." you say not checking if they heard you or not. you sat down in front of the door and put on your small shoes that look like they were going to fall apart but they somehow stayed together for you which made you grateful, you stood back up and taped them on the floor to make them a bit more comfortable before you stood on you toes and you grabbed the door handle turning it making the door swing open as a cold breeze blows into your face 'it still dark so it all the animals in the forest are probably sleeping' you thought as you closed the door behind you and started to walk down your house's driveway.

you stopped and looked down the side of the concrete path to the park playground 'no one will be there... but at least I'd have the swing set for myself!' you walked down the sidewalk with a happy hum at the thought of getting to peacefully play on the swings until morning and you had to go back home.

The soft light coming from the street lights showed the park playground coming into view and as expected no one was there. your walking pace started to speed up until you were now running towards the swing set, you giggle as you jumped up onto the swing and started to wave your legs making the swing slowly start to go back and forth, you closed your eyes and you relax as the peaceful night continued.

Your peace was suddenly interrupted by the sound of footsteps and the rattle of the swings chain ropes that held the seats in the air made when a sudden weight was added to one of the side poles, you opened your eyes and faced to the side to see a thin man leaning on one of the poles that held up the swing, you stopped swinging and observed him, the man was wearing dark gray pants and a black hoodie over his head that was facing down, he had light blue hair that covered his face, you couldn't see his eyes or nose only his dry and creaked lips that had a small cut on the side, your thoughts of the mysterious man were interrupted by the man opening his mouth "what's a brat like you doing out at night?" the man's voice had a lazy tone as his none visible eyes stared at you. To mostly any person, this situation would be terrifying or just very troublesome but unfortunately, your parents never bothered to teach you about the danger about strangers or they just had forgotten to teach you that so at that moment you just gave the man a curious look "just wanted to swing on the swing" you said with a small smile, not minding him calling you a brat.
