The weekend's reading was at Emmy's house. The Okoros, were very simple people. Hospitable and generous. Emmy, the short form of Emmanuel. They preferred calling him Emmy while others called him Emma, and so on.
The sense of humor and intelligence was present in every member of the family. Very lovely family.
"Cookies? Anyone?" Emmy's mum asked as she sat around the dining table.
"Yes. They'd love some." Emmy said on our behalf.
"Emmy." His mum called and stared at him. "Let them speak for themselves, would ya?"
"Yes, mum." Emmy said and looked at his book. Everyone laughed and his mum placed the plate of cookies on the table and left.
"She knows I'm a fan of cookies." Emmy said after she left. "I'd always want a cookie."
He munched on one and we laughed loudly.
Jho and Damien stole glances at each other. Jho frowned most of the time, while Damien made funny faces.
Emmy and Philip laughed at them both.
"I wonder what you both are fighting for. You fight almost every time." Philip said and Emmy chuckled.
"That's because they're in love." He blurted.
"What?" Jho and Philip asked surprised.
"What?" Damien asked too.
"Oops." Emmy said and stood up. "I think I need the bathroom." He said and ran out.
"I need to make a call." Philip said and went out too.
There was silence.
Still silence.
Still silence....I know already...
"Do you think that's true?" Damien asked. "That we're in love?"
"I....I don't know." Jho stammered and looked down.
Her phone rang, it was Mum.
"I have to go." She said and ran out.
