It had been 30 years since I left Luke to forge his own path, sometimes I wondered what he did with the time, and the truth about me.
It was a warm morning in spring, as I walked through the woods, tracing the path I knew so well from childhood memories, petals from blossom trees fluttering all around the area, I often forgot how beautiful this scene was.
Peace filled the air. It was completely silent, and I made no sound as I travelled.
However, peace never seemed to last long enough.
Footsteps.
Why did I have a feeling of deja vu?
A young girl walked through the woods, followed by her father, a tall man with scruffy but clean black hair and pale brown eyes, I hid behind the nearest tree, and watched the following scene.
Two men leapt out from the shadows and demanded to the father,
"Give us your money!" he calmly replied with,
"I have none on me, let us pass." the older one muttered,
"Well, if you won't pay with money, then you'll pay with blood." he aimed at the man the daughter hiding behind him...
I found myself running to save someone who I didn't even know, but I felt like I should have done.
I held myself between the father and the gunman, he growled at me to move, but I smirked and said,
"You haven't seen anything yet..." before unfurling a pair of large, silver grey feathered wings, my wings.
The two robbers stopped and muttered,
"It can't be possible, angels don't even exist." but I grinned at this and said in a firm voice,
"Oh, yeah, we exist alright... And you two should remember me anyways, that little girl with her mother and 3 year old brother, ring any bells?" the two stumbled back muttering in unintelligible sounds, I held that grin before saying in a more aggressive manner,
"Now... Start running, unless you want to fight me? And if I catch you doing the same rubbish to someone else you'll wish you had never been born. Understand?" they both nodded feverishly, I smiled and said,
"Good, now clear off before I get nasty... Which could happen any moment if you don't pay attention." the two men dropped their weapons and sprinted as fast as they could possibly go in the other direction.
I sighed, relieved that I'd dealt with them, the father said to his daughter,
"Oh my goodness, are you okay back there?" she nodded but looked very shook up, the father then looked at me and asked,
"Do we know each other? I feel like we met before." I looked back and said,
"The name's Laura, and you would be?" he looked at me with shock in his eyes, before replying,
"My name is Luke... Do you remember me?" I tilted my head slightly, he chuckled and continued,
"Well, it has been about 30 years since we last saw each other. But you don't forget family, hey sis?" I looked at the young man before me, I couldn't believe it, I laughed and said,
"Well, I never! Luke... How's it been? More importantly, who is this?" gesturing towards the young girl behind him, he replied with,
"It's been decent, despite the difficult times, and this is my daughter, she was named after the person who was the most caring to me in my childhood." I frowned slightly and said,
"Is it Amy, like our mum?" he laughed and shook his head before returning with,
"No, her name is Laura. Laura Hope Brooks."
