Sweet Sunny You

It was getting close to fall and the cold was already coming to greet the town, I wanted to get home quickly to warm up. Passing by the farmers market a bright, singular peach caught my eye. I stopped and smiled picking up the fuzzy fruit that stood out against the grey and blue weather. I could smell how fresh it was. It reminded me of home.

I breathed a sigh as I closed my eyes and thought of you. The shady lanes with birds singing in the branches above painted my mind. We used to walk together on late summer evenings as the sun began to set. I loved how the colorful sun would peek through the canopy of leaves making your hair shine like gold. I can still see your sweet bright smile you only gave to me. And oh, your musical laugh that I could listen to all day. I smiled before coming back to reality.

I looked back at the peach in my hand with a tinge of sadness. The day I left, you had given me a peach, a lovely orange-pink, the same color of your favorite lipstick. That was last summer but it felt as though I'd been away for years. I picked out enough change from my coat pocket to pay the old farmer for the peach. I kept walking and took a bite. The sweet juicy fruit filled me with sunshine and took me back to my home in Georgia. As I walked and ate, the world seemed just a little bit brighter.

Once I got to the bus stop I sat and closed my eyes letting an image of you dance in my mind. My bus soon came and your sunny face became the moody clouds outside my window. As I passed by the dull and monotonous buildings I thought of the train ticket I bought to visit you in the spring. I hope you haven't forgotten me yet. I let out a sigh before settling into my seat to rest my eyes.

"I'll be home soon, Elena, soon. Back to sweet sunny you~" A whisper slipped from my lips before I fell into a light dream of home.

Well! That super short story was based off of the song Send Me a Peach linked above by the Blasting Company. After a friend recommended this song a while ago I couldn't stop listening to it on repeat. XD  Anyways, I hope it was something nice to read, bye!
