School had been busy and Denise and Devin had less time now that summer was over. They talked all day everyday. She wanted to see him so bad.

Denise : wanna come over while I sit outside and do my homework

Devin: Sure I'm on my way

Denise took her notebook and pen slid on her sandles and walk to the back. She was doing her Humanities notes when she heard a faint knock. Idiot. He was at her front door. She walked around to the front swinging open the apartment building door. "Out back remeber."She was smiling hard as hell. She sat down on the swing jotting her notes looking like the perfect little school girl. "Are you just going to stand?" Denise asked Devin who was propped against the support beam of the apartment. His lean body white v neck with jeans and his dog tag necklace that jiggled everytime he moved. He looked so good. "Sorry I'm tired. I could have stayed home and slept or went to the Chinese buffet with the family but I came here to be with you." Devin explained. Denise let out a sound of pure joy "Oh you really do love me!" She said with a huge smile. "You picked me over Chinese food..you really chose to sit here and talk with me than go with them for CHINESE! Shaking my head....I wouldn't have did it. You a good one." "Lol yea I love you and damn really tho?" Devin said sarcastically hurt. "You know I love Chinese." They began talking about when he was leaving and Denise talked about school. "Squirrel!" Denise had just lost her one track mind. Devin snapped his fingers in her face. "Pay attention.finish." Denise was behind in notes because her and her partner Lizzie had just did a huge paper yet Denise watched the squirrel try to bury his nut in a soft patch if grass then quoted Django "Po lil squirrel!" As the nut rolled down into the nearing parking lot that stood on the other side of a wooden fence from her apartment. She began to look at him standing then she slid over and patted the cushion in motion for Devin to sit beside her. She looked at his smile as he took the seat and realized if everyday could end like this she would be happy. The butterflies in her stomach began to flutter as he set his left arm around her. She heard the alarm beep meaning her brother just got in. She banged on the patio "Yo I'm outside doing homework!" She shouted. Next thing you could see her brother peeping through the blinds "so what do I tell momma when she get here?" He asked. "That I'm doing my homework outside... It's not a lie" another 20 minutes passed she had five more pages of notes to go. Then she saw her brother running in her direction. "Momma in her way back here!" He said his little asthmatic lungs failing him"For what?" Denise asked. "To get some sun I guess nigga" he snapped. Less than he replied she saw her mother lift her shades to see who was this boy sitting next to her daughter. "Hi mom..." Denise said to throw attention away from him. It didnt work her mother began to grill Devin and he immediately began to kiss ass and become the perfect answer man. Maybe too perfect. Denise sat between the awkwardness her stern mother on her left and her unknown lover on the right. Before she knew it her mother had them all in the car to take him home. Well then that all went over well. "So mom do you like him?" Denise asked once inside the house. "He's fine nothing to worry about I see." Her mother retorted. " what's that suppose to mean?" Denise was very lost in the toneof her mothers voice. "We'll he's gay right?" Her mother asked. Denise busted into laughter. Yes Devin fed her mother watered down everyday answers and smiled alot but he was far from gay. "Mom he's not gay,I promise " Denise was still laughing. "You trying to get with that boy Denise?" Her mother asked. It's been almost a year Denise had been with that boy but she just nodded her head yes. "It would be cute if he didn't worry about his hair so much." Her mother said. "Mom be glad he cares about himself. I really like him." "Hmm okay" her mother turned around and then proceeded to fold laundry. This was a semi-relief her fuck buddy just got the approval stamp from her mother.
