I can't believe Ash almost became a rogue. He was ready to cut all his bonds with the pack! What was he thinking! I mean he can't do that! He went for a run wanted to clean his head. Hopefully, he will come back to his sense. After an hour and a half later, he is finally back.

"Do you feel better?" I ask and when he nods I slap his arm.

"OUCH! Why did I do?" He protests.

"You lost your mind. You almost leave your pack!"

"So what?"

"So what!? What were you thinking? No, you weren't thinking that impossible." I reply exasperated.

"It's not as if I will become a rogue. There is our other pack." He shrugs.

"I don't know how can say that."

"I have nothing left here. No position, no mate... Why should I stay?" He is annoyed too now.

"What about your family or your studies?"

"We can study online and I need time far from here. I need to move on."

"What about me?" I ask him,

" You would have followed me." He replies as if it was obvious.

When I don't answer, he adds: " You would, wouldn't you?"

"And, uhm ..."

" You have no reason to stay here, no family, no friends... So why are you hesitating? It can't be your mate, as you told so many times that Ezra is not yours." He asks, suspicious.

"I said I can't have a mate!"

"I know that but you never really deny Ezra is your mate, never." He says and I sigh annoyed. Suddenly his eyes become glossy someone is mind linking him and it's not good news as I see him tense.

"We are under attack go with the untrained pups and Luna Charlize!" He orders me.

I nod and hug him: "Be careful and come back safe!"

"Oh I will, this discussion is not over!" He replies before running out of the packhouse.

My protection spells around the pack are not working as I was too weak to maintain it and as I'm still recovering, I'm trying to not use my magic too much. Also Ezra kind of order me to not use my magic on his pack.

In a few minutes, I'm in the safe room with Luna Charlize, Ash's parents, Clint, and the ones who can't fight. Luna Charlize is a good leader but she hates fighting. This is why she is here with us. She doesn't train often and she will be a too big distraction for Alpha Elijah and his wolf.

Everything is quiet and even if I can feel that the people here have total trust in the pack there is still worried in the air. Worries for the loved ones. There is something more in the air... I just can't put my finger on it. I smell something, I think... A light smell of wolfbane. That's inhibiting our wolves, preventing us to shift into our wolf's skin and cut all the mind links. Someone is diffusing wolfbane's gas through the ventilation system.

"Crap!" Luna Charlize says.

"What going on?" I heard Elliot asked afraid.

"When you can't take the head's pack, you take the heart!" Sage mutters.

Yeah, we are in deep shit. Not only we are under attack and we can't mindlink anyone nor shift but also they knew where and how which means we have at last a traitor.

"I can shut the aeration system with your help." I tell them.

"How?" Sage asks.

"Give me your hand and picture the control panel." I reply and he gives me his hands and focuses on the panel. I can see it through his mind and I'm able to turn it off.
