Chapter One
*Pictures of the girls will be posted in the media of each chapter based on whose POV it is.*
"Momma, where are my suspenders at?"
My throat vibrated as I let out a groan. Why can't I just snap my fingers and have this done? "I don't have it and it has to be--" they flew onto the bed and my head snapped up.
"They were right here, AJ." She pointed to my desk and I let out a breath. "Thank you." I mumbled as I continued folding my shirts.
"What is wrong with you? Its just the girls."
"Its not just that, Momma. We haven't been to Gary in....awhile. You know how hard that's gonna be? Being there with them, knowing that he grew up there?" I turned around to look at her seated on my chair in front of the desk. "And plus, I haven't spoken to them in weeks or seen them I'm years." I turned back to face her, "We are women now."
I jus tdon't wanna be reminded of what I saw.
No one needs to know that.
Not yet.
She stood with a sigh, "I guess so."
She was on her way to walk out until she called my name, I jumped out of the horrid memory I was reliving and came back to reality, "Huh!"
"Just be safe."
I nodded, "Yes, Momma."
-
"Alondra!"
"I'm comin! I'm comin'!" I rushed with my luggage so I can be on my way to the airport. Lord, have mercy on my damn soul. I'm gonna be late!
"Here, I'll take it! Just get in." My father swiftly opened the trunk as my feet led me to the car door and inside. "Mom, you have my bag?"
"Here."
Immediately, my earphones were plugged in and 'Stranger In Moscow' made me smile. No matter how sad and lonely he felt in this song, it didn't make me feel lonely. He was right beside me. Beside us. I hope the girls are doing okay, I am hoping Gary will bring us closer like we used to. Only up until a few weeks ago had I spoken to Annie and briefly with Al and Sky. Though, I just felt like something was quite odd. I couldn't really put my finger on something in particular, but I definitely felt it.
"Alondra!"
"Yes!"
"Hello? Get out the car, you hot a plane to catch, girl!"
I pulled my eat plugs out and gasped, "Oh! I have to go!"
My father scoffed, "This girl."
"Bye, guys! I love you!" I bid them a quick farewell and went to board my plane.
This better be a good idea.

This taxi-driver was slower than Miss Daisy. "Sir, I need to get there as soon as possible, is there any way you could speed this up a little?" I was getting irritated. Its been like this for half an hour.
"I'm afraid not, I'd be going above the speed limit, Miss. The police departments have become very strict 'round here, these days."
I rolled my eyes as I stubbornly sat back in my seat with a dramatic sigh. Looking out into these familiar streets of Gary bring back so many memories.
