Chapter 3

I always wondered why the carriage drivers didn't offer to drive further into Westcliff. Unfortunately that means I have a lot of travelling to do on foot, and it's going to take a few days to get to Bloodstone.

Nothing exciting happened on my trip through Westcliff - other than the frequent slaughter of a few balverines. Nothing I can't handle anyhow.  My trip through Wraithmarsh is another story. I have been planning this trip to Bloodstone since I was a little girl, and nothing was going to ruin this for me, no matter how many banshees or other beasts try to get in my way. I needed to make an important stop and talk to some old friends in Wraithmarsh - but that's nothing to be concerned with as of right now.

I arrived in Bloodstone after about 4 days worth of travel. It was an absolute pain in my ass.

"This better be worth it," I said to myself. "Reaver better bloody be here."

I was greeted in Bloodstone by the smell of the salty ocean air, as well as the smell of alcohol on the breath of all the drunks surrounding me. You can't go 5 yards without being propositioned by a hooker or two - female AND male. "Hmm," I thought. "No wonder Reaver lives here, with a reputation like his."

As I walked deeper into the town, I became increasingly aware of how important my meeting with Reaver is. I mean, this is something that I have thought of almost my whole life, and now I need it more than anything. I have no choice. I need Reaver's help, and I need it now.

The tallest, prettiest house in the farthest part of the town was Reaver's. After taking a minute to prepare myself, I knocked on the door. I made sure to knock loud and firm, to send a message that I am to be taken seriously.

A short, nondescript man opened the door. "Reaver is busy. Go away". Oh no, this guy is NOT about to stop me. I have nothing left to lose.

"Listen here. I've been travelling non-stop for days now, trying to make it here to see Reaver, and I'm not about to let some short little glorified housekeeper stop me. I've killed everything from balverines to hollowmen in the past few days, and I don't want to kill you unless absolutely necessary. Do you want to take that chance?" I said, as I pulled out my gun.

"N-n-no ma'am I don't," he stuttered. " I-I'll go grab Reaver now."

"I'm not letting you out of my sight. You're taking me with you to see him."

He led me through the foyer of the house and into a nice big room with a lovely fireplace and tons of bookshelves. In the middle of the room was him. Reaver. In the flesh. Wow, what a pretty man.

"Reaver, sir, this lady came to the door for you. I told her you were busy but she, uh..." His voice trailed off as he motioned toward the gun I had aimed at his head. I holstered my gun as he said that. I no longer needed it, I got what I wanted.

"Thank you." I said to him with a mocking, fake smile. The man quickly scurried out of the room, leaving me alone with Reaver.

"Well hellooo there," Reaver crooned, his voice sounding like butter melting, and his accent a curious sound to hear in these parts of Albion. "You must have come a long way to get to my mansion, so you probably already know who I am. But what kind of host would I be if I didn't introduce myself to my guests - especially ones that look like you. I'm Reaver, and you are?"

"I'm Adeline, and I was hoping I could get a job with you."
