Chris' POV

Home sweet humid ass home! Even though the temperature had dropped a little bit, New Orleans still managed to be humid. As we waited at the carousel waiting on our luggage, Giovanni seemed a bit on edge.

"Bruh, what's wrong? You seem like you are expecting someone to jump out of the bushes on you."

"Nah, just... Look I don't know what to expect this week. I'm here for you but I'll be honest... I just feel like something is going to happen. I don't know what though."

I smiled at him and said, "Calm down, baby. Nothing's going to happen. We'll go to the rental, drop off our stuff then go to La Pierre Manor. Tonight, it's just dinner with my parents, my brothers and my sister. The big crowds won't happen until Wednesday night. That's when they do their version of 'friendsgiving'. Then Thursday is the big family dinner. We're in this together, remember?"

He gave me that sexy smile and said, "Ok, Baby boy. I'll move as you move. Ayo, what's La Pierre Manor? I thought we were going to your parents' house."

I rolled my eyes. "That's the name of the house; La Pierre Manor."

"Why the fuck... you know what... yall rich people are funny to me. Can you call the person we're supposed to meet to get the key for the house?"

While he grabbed our luggage, I called the host for the condo we were staying in. When they picked up sounding exasperated, that ominous feeling that Gio had seeped into my bones.

"Mr. Rideau, I am so sorry. The condo that you reserved had a pipe that burst. We've been on the phones with maintenance all morning. I'm also trying to find you something else. Please let me make this right for you. Can you give me two hours? Are you going to be ok? I am doing everything that I can to find you something equally as fabulous or better. Please. Two hours."

"Mr. Duncan, that it fine. It's not like you caused the pipe to burst. Just call me when you find something. Thanks."

After apologizing for a few more minutes, he hung up.

"So, what's the happs?"

I told Gio what happened and he looked at me with that same on edge look.

"Gio, chill. He said he'd find something else. Let's just get the rental and head to the manor. I'm sure my mother has a repast set out by now."

He just nodded and we went to the car rental counter. At least that went well as Gio's smile worked in our favor to get an upgrade to an Escalade instead of the sedan they tried to give us. As we made our way through the streets of New Orleans, I pointed out landmarks to Gio. I definitely wanted to walk through the marketplace with him so that we could eat at Café Du Monde and we were for sure going to party in the Quarter with my brothers. Far too quickly, we arrived at La Pierre. I had mixed emotions seeing the house. I loved it because it was a beautiful home and this is where I grew up. However, it's also the cause of some of my biggest headaches due to my parents. I saw the cars that were already parked in the driveway and already knew that two of my brothers and my baby sister were already here.
