Caleb and Nakota get in the car and Nakota calls Dean, putting him and Sam on speaker so they can fill them in on what Mr. Shaw had told them. "Spirits and demons don't have to unlock doors. If they want inside, they just go through the walls." Dean says, just as confused as Caleb and Nakota were.
"So it's probably something else, something corporeal." Sam tells them.
"Corporeal?" The twins repeat in unison.
"Excuse me, professor." Nakota adds with a smirk, practically able to hear his eye roll.
"Shut up." He mutters. "So what do you guys think?"
"The claws, the speed that it moves...could be a skin walker, maybe a black dog." Caleb guesses.
"Whatever we're talking about, we're talking about a creature, and it's corporeal." Nakota says, pulling into the motel parking lot. "Which means we can kill it." The two get out of the car as Sam and Dean exit their room to talk to them. Nakota opens the trunk and props the lid of the arsenal open with a shotgun before putting some weapons in a duffel bag.
"We cannot let that Haley girl go out there." Sam tells her, leaning towards her slightly. Nakota rolls her eyes and looks up at him.
"Oh yeah? What are we gonna tell her?" She asks. "That she can't go into the woods because of a big scary monster?"
"Yeah." He says like it's the most obvious thing in the world. Nakota looks at him in disbelief before looking at Caleb and Dean, who shake their heads, letting her handle this one herself. Out of the three of them, Nakota's the one Sam's most likely to listen to.
"Her brother's missing, Sam." She says, looking back up at him. "She's not gonna just sit this out. Now we go with her, we protect her, and we keep our eyes peeled for our fuzzy predator friend." She picks the duffel bag up and Sam slams the arsenal shut, then the trunk.
"Finding Dad's not enough? Now we gotta babysit, too?" He asks angrily. Nakota doesn't say anything, just stares at him. "What?"
"Nothing." She says, shaking her head. She throws the duffel at Sam and walks to her and Caleb's room, the Aussie following her as Dean stays behind to attempt to talk some sense into their brother.
The next morning, the hunters pull up to the woods to see Haley, Ben, and a park ranger standing on the small road, watching them. They get out of the car and Sam grabs the duffel bag of weapons.
"You guys got room for four more?" Dean asks as they approach.
"Wait, you want to come with us?" Haley asks.
"Who are these guys?" The ranger asks her.
"Apparently, this is all the park service could muster up for the search and rescue." She answers. Sam and Caleb walk past everyone, leaving Dean and Nakota in front of the car.
"You're rangers?" The ranger questions. The twins nod.
"That's right." They say in unison.
"And you're hiking out in biker boots and jeans?" Haley asks, eyeing the two.
Nakota looks down at their nearly-identical outfits. She was in a red and grey flannel, unbuttoned and showing her black cropped tank top, light blue skinny jeans and combat boots. Dean was in a matching flannel, also unbuttoned, showing his black t-shirt, dark blue jeans, and a combat boots. Both twins were wearing brown leather jackets. Nakota cringes slightly at the accidental outfit coordination. It happens a lot. More than she would like to admit.
"Well, sweetheart, I don't do shorts." Dean tells Haley before walking past.
"Plus, it's safer to wear jeans and boots in the woods. Keeps you from exposing too much skin and getting bit by something." Nakota adds before smirking at the ranger, who's nameplate says Roy. "But of course, as a ranger, you already knew that, didn't ya?" Nakota follows her twin, moving to stand next to Caleb.
