CHAPTER THREE
We head over to Club Noir, I inwardly sigh as I see the long line that trails across the front of the building. Mitzi seems to ignore it as she links my arm and walks us straight to the front.
"Hey Frankie" she smiles at a brawn of a man dressed smartly on the door.
"Miss Minx" he nods, looking at us from the corner of his eye. I see a slight smirk as he steps aside letting her past. Mitzi holds my hand tightly dragging through the grand entrance towards the music.
"He's a regular at Oscars," she says sweetly. "Frankie is a big fan of the Burlesque ladies; we never have to wait in line to get in here."
We dance like our life depends on it. It seemed that Mitzi was just as popular as Scarlett. I lost count after the sixth guy had brought us drinks. She flirted cheekily, and that's all it was, they seemed happy enough with that with no pressure for anything more. A couple of them asked for my number, but Mitzi told them I would have theirs instead. Taking out her black eyeliner pencil she wrote their names and numbers on the back of my wrist. I smiled; she was so sweetly confident she could get away with murder.
After what seemed like hours of dancing, flirting and laughing, lots of laughing. Scarlett approaches us at the neon lit bar.
"Hey you two!" She grins. "Come join us, Tom added you to the VIP list upstairs it's the Smooched launch party.”
"Smooched?” I ask leaning to Mitzi.
"New lingerie line," she giggles.
We follow Scarlett up the stairs into a large room, music is blaring, there's a dance floor surrounded by large circular private booths, the furnishings are plush in reds, golds and blacks. Ladies that look like damn supermodels are parading about in underwear and heels, with trays of what I think are strawberries covered in chocolate.
I’m so relieved when Scarlett heads to a booth, rather than the dance floor. Feeling a tad exhausted, right now all I want to do is sit. As much as dance is my passion, nothing could prepare me for these killer heels.
Mitzi grabs us champagne glasses from a passing waiter.
"Hey, Mitzi Moo, looking as pretty as ever I see!" Tom stands leaning forward, blocking my view of the rest of the booth. Slightly lifting her and placing a light kiss on her cheek.
She squeals, hugging him back "Long time no see! Tom cat, lovely to see you too!" She giggles.
"You must be Honey?" He leans towards me and places a light kiss on my cheek as he had with Mitzi; everyone is so familiar in Chicago. "Erin told me all about you," he says warmly.
"All good I hope." I beam back at him. He seems lovely, no wonder Scarlett melts when he is near.
He smirks "of course" with a wink. "Here let me introduce you," he turns revealing others sitting in the dimly lit semi circular booth, I hadn't paid attention to them before not realizing that they were with Tom, besides my head is spinning in a Martini Cocktail blur, and I am finding it a little hard to focus never mind anything else.
"Guys, this is Mitzi and Honey.” He says, gesturing towards the two of us.
"This is Jake and Nathan." He smiles, pointing back into the booth
The first guy stands and turns to Mitzi making it obvious he’s checking her out.
"You know what, you look like?” He pauses, and we all wait to hear what he says, guessing it will be some 1950s actress. “My next girlfriend!" He smiles wiggling his eyebrows at her suggestively. "Wow nice dress," she looks down, and before she can speak. He winks "Would look even better on my bedroom floor.”
