-12 Months Later
It's been a wild year, I spent it travelling. I've been hitting the gym often and I went to Bali recently for a sex seminar held by Adina Rivers. I haven't slept with anyone else since the night at the club. I wanted my walk of shame to be less shameful by getting this divorce over with. I'm tired of it weighing down on my shoulders. Dave and I are in his office reminiscing about our high school days, laughing like a pack of hyenas. "Those were the days," Dave said, wiping his eye in his handkerchief. "So...how is the single life treating you?" He asked like he didn't already know the answer. Fucking lonely but fun as hell.
I smirked and shrugged. "Heaven—most of the time," I answered.
"I was hoping to not hear that last part but I'll take it." He said, loosening his grey tie.
"Has—er—has....has Tanya asked about me?"
His face fell and his brow jumped into the air. "Why would she ask about you?" He asked, dryly. I shrugged. He narrowed his eyes at me. "You're not in love with my sister, are you?"
"No, of course not. I was just wondering."
"Hm." He breathed.
"What?"
"I don't believe you." He answered. No shit? I absolutely couldn't tell. But no, I'm not in love with Tanya, that kiss did stir up a few things but I'm not in love. I think. Ok, maybe! I mean I couldn't get her out of my mind since then and been debating on weather or not to call but....sigh.
"Did you redecorate?" I asked, changing the subject. I looked around is large, intricately designed office. Everything is the same, nothing new.
"You know I didn't."
"Do I?" I questioned. He rolled his eyes.
"Are you sure you're ready for this?" He asked. Today is the day Lynette and I are going to be officially divorced. Weather she likes it or not. She still doesn't know about David's little scheme and I don't plan on telling her until things get out of hand.
"Yup." I replied. I truly was, honest. Yeah, sure I miss Lynette but that comes with all the years I've been with her but it's getting easier to live without her everyday.
"She's going to make a scene." He sang. I sighed.
"Yup."
"She's going to cry." He said dramatically.
"Yup. She can cry all she wants, it won't change anything." I stated. David looked at me like he was about to cry. Oh Lord.
"I'm so proud of you." He said and pats my shoulder.
"Shut up." I grumbled. He laughed. There was a light knock on the door. My heart began to race.
"Come in." He said. The door opened and a man in his late 50's, dressed in a black suit walked inside. He had blue eyes and a sunken face. My heart sunk when I saw her. Dave gave my shoulder a small squeeze. Lynette stood behind him. Our eyes met immediately. She looked at me in shock. I stood up to be polite. When she sat down, I sat as well. She stared at me.
"Hi Dame." She muttered. Her blue eyes were sinking their way into my soul. Stop, it's not going to work. Her hair was pulled up into a high ponytail, the hair hanging down was platinum blonde. Her face is round with a small Greek nose covered in fair freckles and a mole on the left side of her nose. Her plump mouth painted in a nude shade. She wore a tangerine coloured pants suit and white pumps. She had gained a lot of weight.
"Hey." I said dryly. I looked at David. Who was getting the paperwork out of his briefcase and slid them to Lynette along with a pen.
"Good morning, Mrs Fields-Meyer and Mr Halberg." David began. "My client here, Mr Meyer, although is afflicted by your client/his wife, Lynette Fields-Meyer, he is willing to grant 100k for her wellbeing....after she signs." I looked at Lynette. She looked at David then at me. "Do you accept?"
Mr Halberg was about to whisper something in her ear but she dismissed him. "I'd like to speak to my husband alone, please." She said in a gently tone.
"Damian?" David said, looking at me. He stared at me, waiting for my answer. I know what she's trying to do, she wants us to be alone so she could sink her claws into me and never let go. She knows how to break me. If she takes her clothes off or grabs me....I'm done for. Would that be a bad thing if I let her? If I want her too?
"Anything you have to say you can say it in front of my lawyer." I said, loud and clear. Sorry, Lynette but your claw sinking days are over.
"Good man." David said under his breath.
"Damian?" She peeped in disbelief. "Damian please." Her lips trembling as she spoke. Tears pooling in her eyes. I could feel my emotionless facade cracking. Lynette....I....I could literally careless if you cry your crocodile tears—like I said your claw sinking days are over.
"Can we get on with this I don't want to be here for longer than I have to." I urged. Her expression changed immediately like someone flipped a switch.
"The Ice Queen has finally made her appearance." Dave said under his breath.
"Fine." She said.

"Are you sure you don't want to take this offer?" David asked Lynette for the 100th time. I sat back in my seat, mentally drained. Lynette just take the damn money, I really don't want you to leave here empty handed.
"For the last and final time, David. No!" Lynette said. "Why would I need that when half of his is mine."
David opened his mouth to say something but I stopped him by nudging his shoulder. I looked her in those cold eyes with a pleading gaze before speaking. "We're going to ask you once more.....Lynette please, take the money—"
"No." She said, venomously.
"Go ahead, David." I said and sat back.
"The offer is officially off the table and if you would look at Article 2, you will see a prenup which was signed by both parties—" Lynette snatched up the papers furiously.
"I didn't sign one!" She exclaimed.
"Is that not your signature, Mrs Fields-Meyer?" David asked.
"Yes but...I don't remember signing this nor did we ever discuss getting a prenup." She said. David and I looked at each other.
"But is that not your and my client signature?" Dave asked.
"Yes, but we never signed this."
"My client and I have reason to believe that it was sign when both parties were intoxicated which makes this invalid, however, my client is willing to sign a postnup where you get half a million and the small property my client inherited from his great uncle or....my client moves forward in taking you and Mr Felix Swatton to court for forgery, embezzlement and Roslyn Meyer, also my client, is considering to take you to court for assault for the incident that occurred fourteen months ago."
Lynette grabbed onto her attorney's arm, stopping herself from falling out of her seat. She looked at me with a look I didn't recognize. Her attorney began arguing but she stopped him. "I'll sign." She said softly. Dave gave her the papers then we both signed. I gave her the cheque and the deed to the property and they left. Lynette left with her head low and her fingers were white from clenching her purse. Dave and I waited a few minutes before letting out an massive sigh of relief.
"I thought she'd never sign." I said, running my hands through my hair, still in shock.
"I told you I got you."
"Yeah but—" I smiled. David has never let me down once so why would this make a difference? I should count my blessings that he's still in my life. "Never mind. You wanna grab a drink?"
"That shouldn't even be a question." He said, getting his things together.
