Shoto Todoroki

It was one of those days. The ones that find pleasure in overwhelming and drowning you. Homework, school, friends, family, society. Everything crashing down.

Todoroki stared at his work. He'd never had many issues with essays, a bit of annoyance and stress but nothing that he couldn't sallow down and ignore.

This time, however, nothing was working. Like, not working. As if someone had stolen a piece of a jigsaw puzzle. The question on his laptop blurred, hissing and crackling like a fire. The blaring white background burned his eyes. An aching feeling started at the back of his throat, spreading to his eyes.

Then he squeezed them tight. No, I won't cry in front of Y/n. It's just some homework- breathe.

You sat on his bed, a book in your hands. You glanced up.

Todoroki intensely stared at the screen. He could feel your gaze on him.

"Shoto? Are you alright?"

He didn't move, willing you to turn away so he wouldn't cry. You always managed to make him vulnerable; anytime you smile at him he melts, anytime you touch him he blushes, anytime you stroke his hair he'll reveal emotions he didn't even know he was having.

So if you even come near him, those emotions will start to flood out.

"Fine." He mumbled, trying to keep his voice steady.

You gingerly slipped off the bed, only to hover around him. The sound of your footsteps was already making his eyes water. A small part of him wanted to run out of the room. But the rest just needed to feel your warmth.

please. i need you.

Then finally Todoroki gave in. Tears tumbled down his pale skin as he pushed the heels of his hands into his eyes. Soft hair fell around his face. More frustration coiled in his throat. He's now broken down in front of you with blotchy cheeks and running nose- over homework. Fucking homework. You must think he's a sad little boy who cries every time he gets given an essay. A wave of embarrassment replaced the frustration. He bit his lip, trying to choke back the sobs.

Suddenly you slammed his laptop shut, closing the essay.

Todoroki felt you take his hands gently, removing them from his face. Tears streamed down his cheeks, which were raw pink, his lips were quivering and his face was scrunched up. You knelt down so you could get a clear view but he kept glancing away.

"Let's take a break okay? You work yourself too hard, love," You whispered, rubbing your thumb across his knuckle.

Tears still appeared. But they were slowing. His beautiful eyes pinned to the ground, completely avoiding you. You restaining your self from squeezing him into a hug. Natural instincts were begging to protect him. You've only ever seen him cry once or twice (mostly during battles) because of his habit of distancing himself when he felt upset.

Your right hand let go of his only to slowly travel to his face. Your fingers traced along his cheekbone and lovingly wiped the tears away. Rough skin scrapped against the pad of your finger but you barely noticed. All you could focus on was the warmth of his tears and the protectiveness that raged inside you. You hated seeing him crying.

His hand reached up to hold yours against his cheek. Finally comfortable enough to look you in the eyes. The heat from your hand soothed him as he leaned into you.
