"So, how ya feeling?" Bobby asked, the next day at work."Feeling about?" I replied, while wiping down the plastic vinyl stool tops, that were all sticky with some random substance.
"Oh don't get smart with me. Your party is today isn't it?"
I sighed. I had been trying to put it out of my head all morning, thinking that would help the nerves settle, but to no avail--it came back into my head full force.
"I'm...nervous I guess."
"You know, you're acting like this is some life altering event. It's just a party. Maybe you will meet somebody there that can help you, but the objective is for you to have a good time." He continued.
"I feel like you've been lecturing me a lot these few days Bobby." I said, trying not to roll my eyes.
"And I feel like you haven't been listening at all. You've been a pain in my ass these past few days."
I looked at him with wide eyes, while laughing, pausing mid wipe. "Bobby!"
He started laughing too. "What? It's true." Then he nudged a plate of food to me. "Now take this to the last customers over there, and then you're good to go for the day. And don't worry about coming into work tomorrow, you can tell me all about what happened on Monday."
"Awww." I said, then leaned across the counter and wrapped my arms around his neck, then placed a big kiss on his cheek. "Thanks Bobby." I said after pulling away.
"Alright, don't go getting your female pheromones on me, it'll scare away my lady friends."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah." I replied, but I could see the deep blush he had on his puffy cheeks while he smiled.
"Hey, here's your meal." I said, while walking up to the customers table.
"Thank you." The young couple said in unison.
I watched them while I walked away, admiring how they shared their plate of food, and how they looked at each other with so much love evident in both gazes.
I stayed behind for the last twenty minutes while the customers finished their food. I wiped down counters, cleared tables, and swept the floors. Bobby stood in the kitchen, grunting and washing dishes.
Soon the happy couple was finished. I approached the spot that they were sitting at, and grabbed the money that was sitting on the table, smirking at the nice tip they left behind.
"Here's the money they owe Bobby." I said, handing him a crisp twenty dollar bill.
"Why...thanks lil' lady. Now, why don't you get out of here, and go on to your party."
"Okay. I will! Bye Bobby." I said, then dashed out of the door.

"Oh my gosh, your hair is finally perfect." Nancy gushed.
After hours of straightening, then curling, then restraining, then pinning it up, Nancy finally decided on a style she thought would match the magnitude of my dress. She figured that it looked fancy, but not too fancy that it out shadowed the dress, which would have overall created a drab or gaudy look.
"This looks so amazing." She said, fluffing my curls while smiling at me through the bathroom mirror.
"I have to agree..." I said, turning my head from side to side so I could see the style from every angle. "You really outdid yourself with this one."
