Even though we - as a collective, as humanity, as living entities - are souls, why must the carnal body segregate us? That is, why is the being that is the flesh all that encompasses us on this earth? Perhaps the answer is that the flesh is on earth, thus, it cannot transcend what stands between this dimension and another realm. It is meant to be exactly what it is; selfish, conceited, ugly, and useless.
Is the earth hell? or is the flesh hell? A common belief stands with the idea that the earth is hell, for, ultimately undesirable events, actions, and circumstances are able to thrive on its surface. Perhaps the earth, this universe, is hell because it is a neutral premises - permiting the fruition of both evil and good alike.
However, if this earth and universe is truly neutral in nature, then it is hard to believe that humanity lives in hell, because it is neither evil nor good.
The soul is not the flesh - these are two different entities. It is certain that the soul is pure love, the breath of the one and only true, God. The soul is pure and true love while the flesh is pure and true lust. Thus, pure love is "confined" (the soul will ultimately be free of the flesh) within the walls of pure lust. Therefore, the carnal body, the flesh, is its true prison; its own personal hell.
