I watch as Wren walks through the back door. I wave one more time and put down my newspaper.

"Shit!"

My mind immediately explodes. What if she's a hybrid? Her father would kill her! I need to prepare. Jamie probably already knows so I'll text her later...

My mind raced as I tried to think through everything that needed to happen. I need to talk to Ophelia and Ally... They can bring her to the hideout... but when? I can contact them now and they can pick Wren up at 10 maybe..? But it takes so long for them to look at their messages... I should've listened to pops, I never should've come here! Well, we can't change the past, so change the future! We need to get her out before The Ceremony, so we still have time, but her father...

I didn't realize this at the time, but I was pacing like a madman. I was walking all around the house, just... thinking. All I could think of is getting Wren out of here before The Ceremony

For those wondering, The Ceremony happens every year to see if any of the 16-year-olds are Hybrids. They go into a room with a doctor, undress, and if the doctor doesn't see anything, they redress and leave. But if the doctor does see, then they grab a knife and stab them as well as they can. The sad thing is, many doctors have mistaken normal parts of the human body for Hybrid parts and taken many innocent lives.

I ran to my dingy phone and called Ophelia.

"Hello? Who is this?"

Crap, i forgot about the argument...

"I-It's Jolie" I mutter into the phone.

"Oh, you... you finally wanna come back?" She said in an annoyed tone

"No, not really..." I paused. "It's about my daughter."

"You're joking."

"You know I don't joke Phe," I tell her. She goes silent for a minute then finally says

"Where and when."

"Just outside of town. Ten. Bring Ally. We're gonna have a few passengers."
