     CHAPTER TWO

Corrie was at the airport, she was about to go to a school to learn magic. She could start over, have friends, maybe even be popular.

Corrie looked around, Betsy was motioning for her to come towards the plane. Corrie made her way over. Betsy grinned, took Corrie's hand, and pulled her into the plane.

The inside of the plane was different than Corrie had expected, it looked almost first class, and, though Corrie guessed there were at least a hundred thirteen year olds, the plane was not crowded. From the outside the plane had looked quite small, Corrie wondered if magic had been used to expand it.

There were no two empty seats, Betsy was arguing with a girl, "can't you move to a different seat so that me and my sister can-"

"No way!" the girl cut Betsy off, "I need to sleep and that takes two seats." She was holding up two fingers and looking at Betsy mockingly, the boy next to her laughed, "Bye Bye!" the girl pushed Betsy away. Betsy was so red faced she looked as if she was going to hit someone. Not wanting this, Corrie pulled Betsy away from the seats of the girl and boy who had offended her, "We don't have to sit together, I mean we really can't." She said this last part quickly, not wanting to offend Betsy.

"You're right," Betsy replied, "I'll sit here." She sat in the midst of a large group, engaging in conversation almost immediately. Corrie looked around, noticing a vacant seat between two girls, Corrie made her way towards it, but the girls seemed disgusted by the proposition of her sitting between them so she continued her search for an available seat. Eventually, Corrie found a seat, sitting next to a sleeping girl, Corrie settled down.

It was about an hour after take-off, Corrie set down her book and looked around, first towards the aisle, where her sister was sleeping, then towards the window, the girl she was sitting next to was awake, awake and looking at her.

"Hi," Corrie said shyly, "I'm Corrie, what's your name?"

It was as if she had torn down an invisible barrier between them, a grin crept up the other girl's face, "Elizabeth, Elizabeth Nevers."
