The rest of the week crawled by and by the time it was the weekend, I was actually looking forward to the party. It was the one thing I hadn't tried yet to take my mind off of everything.

"Did you pick something to wear yet?" Cass said, walking into my room.

"Yep." I said, turning around. I was wearing a pair of black skinny jeans and a dark red satin tank top that had a much lower neckline than I was used too.

"Oooo, sexy!" she teased. Her eyes drifted to the medium-sized white bandage covering the gun wound on my chest, but she didn't say anything about it. There was an identical one on my back.

"You look nice." I said as I looked over her outfit. She had a short black dress on and some high heels, her dark hair was perfectly curled.

"Thanks!" she said brightly. "Want to borrow some shoes?"

"No thanks." I shrugged, pulling on my converse.

"No, Indigo! Don't ruin your awesome outfit with those!"

"These are non-negotiable." I told her, pointing down at my feet.

She sighed heavily. "You're no fun."

"Nope! Now lead the way."

It turned out the party was a little too far to walk, so Cass ordered us a lyft. I frowned as we pulled up to the house that was already rowdy with people.

"Don't chicken out on me already." Cass warned as she saw my face.

"I won't." I promised, although I was silently wondering why I had been looking forward to this.

"John!" she called almost immediately as we stepped through the door. A taller guy with messy blonde hair tipped his head up at her and walked our way.

"Hey there." he said, giving her a hug.

"This is Ice Ice Baby." She gestured to me.

"Now that one isn't even a color."

She scowled at me. "Fine. This is Indigo. Happy?"

"Well it is my name." I grinned, shaking my head at her.

"Nice to meet you." The very confused John said, reaching out to shake my hand. "Do you guys want a beer?"

We both said yes, so he left back into the crowd briefly before returning with two unopened cans.

"Thanks," I said as I grabbed mine.

"So, what are you studying?" he asked me, already drifting close to Cass in a flirty way.

"I'm in pre-med." I told him before taking a drink.

"Just like Cassie!" he said, looking down at her with a smirk.

"Yep!" I said, popping the p a little. "Cass, I'm going to go see if I know anyone else."

"Cool, text me if you need anything!" she waved at me before turning back to John.

I don't know why I didn't expect this to happen. Of course it made sense for Cass to ditch me for the guy she came here for. I leaned against a wall and watched the dancers while sipping on my drink. I felt someone come stand next to me and looked over to see a familiar looking guy with tousled brown hair and a cute face.

"Hi I'm Jake!" he grinned. "I think we have bio-chem together, right?"

"That sounds right." I agreed, not really sure but not caring enough to stop and think about it.
