Third Person's POV,
Korea 2020
3 hours before New yearThe sky was dark, snow was falling down the cold pavement as Kim Jongwoo walks through the park. Phone in hand as he browse through a manhwa he had displayed on his phone. The day has started out lonely, it seems that it will end the same for him, typical.
He hummed, his eyes trained over his phone like it was the most fascinating thing he had seen, and it is- well what is on display is. Who Made me A Princess is a popular Korean manhwa following the story of young Athanasia who found out she was reincarnated into her favorite novel as the villain, determine to live she sweet talks her way to her father's heart and survived a lot of Drama.
Imagine living a life destined to doom you at the very start, Jungwoo would have cried.
Jungwoo adored the cute little girl, it reminded him of his sister, his sister who died due to suicide on the very same day as today. It's probably not healthy to project his hidden trauma into a fictional character but its the cheapest therapy he could afford.
Bullied for liking girls and suffering from Tourette's- she was physically and mentally harmed, Jungwoo was too late. All his life it seems to be a reoccurring theme, always too late never on time.
She always had a smile on, bright and cheerful and Jungwoo was dumb enough not to see what's real and what isn't- did he fail as a big brother? Or did he fail as a person in general? One will never know and his too much of a coward for a closure anyways. How her smiles were forced and how she always wore long sleeves despite the weather being 170 degrees out. Her favorite pink sweater still haunts him too this day.
Smiling sadly because of the memory or well he tried to but his lips couldn't seem to move themselves, his probably freezing that's all, he turned off his phone- that was the 5th time he had read the novel- his sister recommended it to him and he couldn't stop reading it.
Athanasia and Jeannette were close to his heart, Ijekiel and Lucas giving him his daily dose of serotonin and Claude- handsome and regal Claude making his heart flutter for some unknown reason. His lying, his just gay.
Diana, beautiful and graceful Diana reminded him of his mother- dead yet her love still lingers in their old house. She died giving birth to His sister, Jaehee, his father was not the nicest. A lot of people are like that, not the nicest.
Ever since he lost his job he became abusive, throwing things around, screaming and raging like a bull on a pit, his mother bless her wonderful soul had to take all the hit for him, Jungwoo was young- so young when he had to force himself to wake up early, learn how to cook food and work little by little to earn a little amount of money to buy baby formula.
He soon died because of heart failure, due to his excessive drinking and eating oily foods.
All in all, Kim Jungwoo is alone. No girlfriends, no friends- he worked at a local orphanage, taking care of kids and making sure they are all well fed.
The pay isn't that high and the orphanage sometimes needs maintenance but the kids were happy and Jungwoo is happy.
"Ah excuse me" a girl says, Jungwoo nod and moved out of the way.
Despite being soft, Jungwoo is a big guy. The male towered a normal asian men. His 6'1 height, scared everyone who came to talk or wanting to befriend him. That did made him sad, but he soon learned that it's better to be alone rather have snakes following you.
"Hey you wanna watch a movie today?" ask the guy in a red beanie to a girl.
"What do you have in mind?" the girl asks, Jungwoo rounds the corner and that's the end of the conversation.
