hassana hums to herself quietly as she reads through her textbook. a month had passed since she started university and she wanted to be on top of her schoolwork. she had her goals in place on what she wanted to achieve and passing with high achievement was one of those goals hence why she spent most of her time in the library. now that was not to say that she didn't spend time with her friends or be social, but both nyah and halima understood as they were the same way.
her adjustment from high school to university was going better than she had hoped but she was also only a month in and the workload hadn't become too hectic yet. she also noticed the boy that halima had met during their first week of school a lot more often. caleb. they always sat next to each other in the one lecture they shared and she had come to enjoy his presence next to her. he was so calm and his voice was deep and soothing. they had gotten to know each other, between taking notes and she had found that he played on the basketball team and that he had a younger brother that was also on the team and that lived with him in their shared apartment. she hadn't known what to expect when she started talking to him frequently but she found that she was surprised and intrigued when she got to know his personality even more. caleb was so sweet and calming, she felt like he was a soothing balm to her soul.
hassana looked up at the sound of a chair scraping against the floor and recognition filled her at the boy sitting across from her. the boy across from her, hadn't yet noticed her and she quietly studied him, taking in the facial features, admiring them for what they were and how handsome the boy was although he didn't quite compare to caleb. josh finally glanced up and hassana averted her eyes quickly, heat spreading to her cheeks at being caught. josh smirked slightly, recognizing the girl in front of him. he couldn't forget the girl that had treated him so differently from other girls. not only that, she seemed rather nice although he didn't know her.
deciding to introduce himself, he whispered to her. "hey, i'm josh." hassana felt a smile creeping up on her face. "i'm hassana." he nodded in greeting and smiled. the two went back to their work quietly but josh couldn't help but sneak glances at her, now and then. for some reason, he really wanted to be her friend. she seemed so soft-spoken and he had the urge to protect her from any and everything. she felt like a little sister or something to him. although she was pretty, josh just didn't see her in that way and he could enjoy the quiet conversion they carried now and then, her personality seemed to attract those around her like a moth to a flame.
