She knew he was out there far across the sea. not some sailor but some silent mystery.

one to call her own just as she could feel him to her very bones.

as she stood in the water waiting, she remembered them mating.

a man from the sea as he entered gently.

not knowing he left within her, this small little pearl.

Joan knew she would have to do this alone with no family of her own.

but she didn't care for she knew he was out there so she wasn't alone.

she felt the sudden pain as it began to rain.

the forecast hadn't been expected to be like this so she gently ran to the shore where she could focus more.

as she ran, she cradled her belly with her hand, slowly taking her place on the blanket that lay across the sand.

the pain hit hard, she knew her guard was suddenly down.

she wanted to call that man so far.

and like a dream he was suddenly there, he whisked her dress and she now lie bare but she didn't care.

she screamed for him but knowing it was only a dream.

the rain had suddenly stopped, not a single drop.

she caressed the side of her belly, this gentle baby that she called Nelly.

the pain persisted but she no longer resisted.

still her baby would not come as she pushed when needed so she conceded.

sweat rolled down her face but the baby was going at its own pace.

she pushed and she screamed, no one listening.

the sound of the sea made her feel bound to the great mystery that was he.

her labor felt forever but still no one came to help her through this as she lie to do this.

the strength within her was all she needed to open her lips as she made her way through this.

though her lips were wide little Nelly was still inside.

the tide seemed to slow so she could have more,  more of time to scream and only rhyme as she remembered her baby was once the size of a lime.

caressing her belly she now begged for this little baby to peak her little head.

more hours continued to pass but slowly like an hour glass.

out in the distance the sun began its slow little dance making her feel lost in a trance.

as she caressed again, she screamed so loud, he would feel so proud at her magical sound.

the siren of the sea for that's what she had come to be.

she placed a hand below feeling the head as if the baby was finally saying 'hello'.

She knew Nelly was ready so she began to push down on her belly.

her lips finally parted enough to feel this was suddenly real.

she screamed and she cried, feeling like she would die.

breathing a short time for a small little break,  she wondered how much more she could take.

Nelly was ready so once again she pushed down on her bare belly.

as the sun reached the horizon the baby now cries then.

not done yet she takes her and so she will not fall directly on the sand.

she leans back and brings her baby up, never wanting to let go, she is so aglow.

Nelly is still attached to the cord below so she reaches for the scissors that she brought with her   and then completes the after birth.

Holding the baby in hand, she comes to a stand as she walks across the sand.

she walks to the water with her little daughter, she wants her to know her father.

out across the sea, still a mystery and so is she.

people will come to see, that little baby was me.
