"Isabella and Tommy, stop that." P hissed at the kids who were simply giggling at the book Izzy was reading to her brother.
I stood in the mirror, fixing my tie, "P, let them enjoy the story."
She sighed, "Are you ready? We don't want to be late."
I glanced over at my wife who looked stunning in a long golden gown. Her hair was swooped to the side in an intricate side ponytail, her make up accentuating her stunning blue eyes that I love. I smiled and she rolled her eyes at me.
"Honey, let's go."
I checked myself one last time before giving the kiddos their kisses goodbye. "Thank you again, Martha." I told our cook who came on this trip with us just to watch the babies.
"Of course, enjoy your evening." Martha smiled as I opened the door for P.
P who grumbled, "Why're you thanking her? She gets paid for this."
I ushered her out, looking to Martha to apologize but she had her back turned. Once in the hall I tried to grab P's hand but she snatched hers away, "Don't touch me."
I frowned, she'd been doing this for a couple months now and it was getting old. "P, what's going on?"
"The fact you're still asking that question just proves how stupid you are." She hissed as we approached the elevators.
I slipped my hands in my pockets, my heartbeat slowing as for the first time in some years, I realized that for as much as I loved Persephone, I really hated her. This realization has come before, but for the first time, the hatred and love were almost equal amounts.
I bit my lip, looking at her as we continued down the hall. "Enlighten me, P."
She glanced at me, lip curled, and snarl loud, it was only once I got past that that I saw the hurt in her eyes. "You slept with another woman."
I raised an eyebrow, almost chuckling a little bit, "You told me to."
"See, stupid." She told me as we reached the elevators, she pressed the call button.
I worked my jaw, "You're mad because I did what you told me to do. What you practically shoved down my throat."
The doors opened and P walked on with her head held high, "Not just any woman, Henry. Courtney. You slept with that woman."
If I didn't know it before, I knew it then, this night was going to be sponsored by hell.
"Kill me, now, please."
Nix snorted, handing me his full glass of whiskey, "Never beg a man to end your life. Hire a hitman, coward." He deadpanned, looking like James Bond in his tux.
I raised an eyebrow, "This shit isn't black tie."
He wiggled his eyebrows, "Maybe not, but who's the one getting laid tonight?"
That's when Delia arrived, "Nix, shut up." She deadpanned, slipping her hand in his pocket. She looked stunning in a fitted forest green gown, gold lining her eyes. She pulled out his phone and unlocked it, "I think that chick who's been hitting on us is here." She told us, making my eyebrows pinch.
"Both of you guys?" I asked.
Nix groaned, "Yeah, Johnny's dumb ass made us a profile on this threesome dating site. Some chick found us on social media and won't stop commenting on our pictures together."
Delia laughed, "It's cute, honestly. She really likes Nix's lips, and I agree. They're great but Mr. Party Pooper won't let me comment back about how soft they are. Especially when-"
