Chapter 9

it was silent, both jeno and jaemin's hearts are beating rapidly. it was as if the time had stopped as they wait for minhee's response, who was still looking at jeno and looks innocently buffered at the situation. jeno can't even point what the child is possibly thinking at that moment.

"Daddy?" minhee inquired in his tiny voice as he tilted his head to the other side, still looking at jeno.

the oldest swears that if this isn't such a serious situation, he'll end up running to minhee, cooing at how cute he is right now.

"yes, baby. he's your daddy" jaemin answered softly, nodding as he glanced at jeno for a second.

at that moment, with a gasp, minhee turned his head to jaemin with wide eyes, and jaemin was relieved when he didn't see anything but innocent happiness and fondness from his child's eyes.

"papa! does that mean that rokhee is minhee's sibling?" minhee asked innocently, but there's still the glimpse of excitement in his voice.

confused for a moment, jaemin chuckled upon realizing what minhee had said. the baby thinks that rokhee is jeno's child, probably because that's what he thought when he first saw the dog.

"why don't you ask your daddy who's rokhee?" jaemin suggested cheerfully, he saw how jeno tensed when he put minhee down, making him chuckled inwardly when jeno looks really nervous.

jaemin kneeled down to minhee's height when he noticed that he wasn't moving from his spot. he made the child face him and asked him what's the matter. the baby pouted.

"baby minhee is shy, papa" minhee muttered and hugged jaemin who just chuckled and carried him again. minhee hid his face on his papa's neck.

"I'll bring you to him, no need to be shy, baby" jaemin encouraged softly.

jaemin may look calm as he assesses and observes the situation, but deep inside he's worried and just wants to make sure that the situation won't be too much for minhee. he's just a child, he still can't understand what's happening and he may be confused, and as much as possible, minhee's happiness is what jaemin will give him.

he glanced at jeno who was still frozen on his spot, it looks like his feet got super glued on the floor. jaemin would chuckle if not because of how genuinely nervous jeno looks at the moment. jaemin wonder if that would be jeno's expression if ever that he was there when minhee first came to the world because honestly, jaemin was really nervous when he first met and held minhee, maybe jeno is feeling the same now (though minhee isn't as small as before now because he's already two).

jaemin walked in front of jeno and gave him an encouraging smile before mouthing a, "don't be nervous", which also applies to himself actually.

"baby, look at your daddy, you told me that you miss big minhee right? now he's here, and he's your daddy, baby" jaemin told the baby softly with slight chuckles when minhee obeyed, raising his head but was looking at jaemin and not at jeno.

jeno gulped as he tried to calm himself, nothing will happen if he'll chicken out and let go of the opportunity of his child acknowledging him as his father.

"minhee, baby" jeno called softly, grateful that his voice didn't crack or something.

minhee turned to him slowly and jeno was quick to give the baby a big, fatherly smile. jeno could see how shy minhee at the moment, he fully understand. minhee is just a child who lived without a daddy for two years and here he is showing up and introducing himself as a daddy, of course, you can't expect the child to be close and comfortable with you that quick.

"daddy" jeno voiced out when minhee just continued staring at him. "big minhee, your daddy" he added, pointing to himself with an encouraging smile.
