Kenna's P.O.V.
I really didn't want to go to school, but I couldn't complain about it because Mason and Aubrey really didn't want to go. There is nothing worse than going to a new school, especially since they're a month in already.
"Come on lazy bones, get up."
"Butttt Mom." Mason whines, as he throws the blanket over his head.
"No buts, move it."
I showered and got ready. When I was done, Aubrey was sitting at the table ready for breakfast, while Mason was just finishing getting dressed. We all sat down and ate our cereal.
"Make sure you remember everything because I want to hear all about your day when I pick you up." I told them.
"Do we have to go?" Mason asked.
"Unfortunately, yes. I promise you, it will get better the next few days when you guys get into the routine, and think of all the friends you're going to make."
I looked over at Aubrey, I could tell she was nervous, but she wasn't being vocal about it like Mason was.
"How about this, tonight after I pick you guys up we stop at that candy shop we saw when we went out with Uncle Bryan?"
"Okay." They both said.
We all went into the bathroom, brushing our teeth before grabbing our backpacks and headed to my car.
We buckle up, and I head out. A short drive later, I'm pulling up to the kids school. I walked them in and the principal greeted us. She seemed very kind and told us she would walk us to their classroom.
"Ms. Jones, I understand you are a Senior over at our high school?"
"Yes Ma'am, I'll have my phone on me if there's an emergency. I don't have any family around here and I don't know many people here yet."
"Oh that's quite alright, I'll be more than willing to help you out, you seem to have two very well behaved children."
"Yes Ma'am, they're wonderful."
I have a study hall at the end of the day. My principal said that since I'm a Senior, I'll be able to leave to pick them up when their school is released twenty minutes before ours gets out. I couldn't be more thankful for how they're working with me, I have to make sure I'm on my best behavior.
"Mommy, can you stay with us?" Aubrey asked.
"No sweetie, but I promise you I will be here right after school, and we will go get our treat."
I gave her a big hug and wiped away the tear that fell.
I went to hug Mason and whispered in his ear, "I need you to be extra good for me and watch out for your sister. Can you do that for me, little man?"
"Yes, Mommy."
Their teacher came out and introduced herself, "Hello, I'm Mrs. Matthews and I'll be your first grade teacher."
I hugged both of them, and kissed them goodbye.

That was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. They're my life, and seeing them so scared broke my heart. I walked out to my car and headed over to my school which was right down the road.
I pulled into the parking lot. There were only a few kids left, heading inside. I looked at my watch. First period was about to start. I got out and started heading to the door, when I heard a loud whistle.
