I screamed and tried to grab onto something. Lexa tumbled out of my grasp. I grasped onto a rock jutting out of the water. Oh so mush noise. The water rushed passed my face. I was hanging on for dear life. Where was Lexa? My hands began to slip. It was only 10 feet to the water but the current was dangerous and the bottom rocky. I saw only one option. I let go, pushing myself away from the rock. I fell barely missing a rock that jutted up. Splash. All I heard was the distorted sounds of the waterfall. I clawed my way to the surface and began paddling to the edge. Where was Lexa? I pulled myself onto the bank, freezing and scared. I collapsed in the mud. I managed to get to my feet and began running as fast as I could. As I ran my foot caught on a root. I fell and rolled down the muddy slope. Thunder boomed. My backyard was in sight. I flung open the porch door and began to yell. My mom urged downstairs and saw the tears rolling down my face. "Lexa-the falls-" I choked out. "She fell..." And then I fainted dead away on my carpet.
I awoke later to an IV monitor beeping. Where was I? I saw a red button marked CALL and pressed it. A few seconds later a nurse bustles in. Her name was Nurse Kelley. "Hello sweetheart." She said. "How long was I..." "One day." She says. "Where is my Mom?" I ask. "Where am I?" I ask. "Intensive Care Unit. You have a bad kind of... Cold." "Was Lexa okay?" I ask. She doesn't answer. "Lexa my friend." She only leaves and says: "I'll get you parents." "No!" I shout. "Just leave me alone." She sighs and nods. "I'll tell them you are awake." I nod weakly as she leaves. As I am drifting back to sleep I see someone walking in the door. "Mom? Nurse Kelley?" "It's me, Lexa!" She smiles and I see it is her. She seems healthy, not wet and perfectly fine. She is wearing the same thing she was wearing yesterday. "You're alive!" I whisper. "The nurse made it seem like you were dead!" She begins looking angry. "I am dead!" Her image flickers. "I hit my head and fell into the current. You lived." "Lexa!" I gasp. "You let me go!" She shouts. I begin to feel cold. "You let me fall!!" She screams. "I couldn't help you!" I whisper. "Who says, you wouldn't know now anyway." "Lexa please!" I whisper. "This is all a joke Lexa stop it stop it stop it..." I am still muttering "stop it!" when she leaves.
