"You could run me over with a truck and I'd thank you- I-" Rosalie had come into the house from a hunt to see what was going on. And when the embodiment of beauty itself just waltz's into the room, it's hard to be composed. Don't get me wrong, all of the Cullens were beautiful but Rosalie somehow looked even more stunning in comparison.
Her laugh escaped her lips like music. "Thank you, sweetheart. Although I will have to refrain from the truck part." Emmett snorted and walked over to her, wrapping an arm around her waist.
"Rose, you missed it! This kid was floating mid air! Carlilse thinks she can fly." Emmett cackled.
Rosalie raised her eyebrows. "Fly?" I shrugged. "I don't know anything, I just started levitating out of nowhere."
"We should test it out, see exactly what it is." Emmett said, a mischievous smile playing on his lips. I scoffed.
"No thanks, I just managed to get down."
"Come on, you gotta admit it's cool. Aren't you interested at all in what this means?" He asked, his head angled towards me to allure persuasion. I sighed.
"Okay, yeah, I am curious. But I'm not trying to get stuck on the ceiling again." Jasper cut in then.
"You just need to learn how to control it, it takes practice."
So here we were, with Jasper and Emmett trying to teach me how to fly. I gave Emmett a look.
"If I float off to the moon, it's your fault." Emmett laughed, "Fine by me." I glared at him playfully.
"Okay, Jace. Remember to control your emotions. Don't let them control you. Use the power to have over them." I nodded.
I thought about my brother again. This time, instead of his pain, it was his ability to always make me laugh. Emmett reminded me of him. He was always goofy, but he was responsible and took care of me when I was at my lowest.
"Jace." Jasper gasped. I looked at him. "What?"
"Look." My eyes moved down to the ground and instead of levitating, the leaves that were on the forest floor surrounded me, swirling slowly around my body in orbit.
"Telekinesis and levitation? How come you get the super powers?" I beamed at Emmett, still keeping it going. Euphoria flowed through my body, a strange calm dominating my mind.
"Woah!" A rock knocked Emmett in the head. He looked at the direction it came from, confused. And then another rock. And another. I giggled.
"Jace stop." Emmett whined. I stopped the rocks, but the leaves flowed like wind around my body, and I felt the familiar feeling of my feet leaving the ground. I was air.
"It's not telekinesis." Jasper stated.
I looked down at him, confused. "What?"
"It's physics. It's like your body doesn't apply to its laws. Look," He pointed behind me. My neck snapped at the direction of his finger. Water droplets now joined the leaves, but never wet anything. They float in their individual drops, as if gravity didn't exist.
"Gravity doesn't affect you unless you let it. But you're not floating aimlessly, you're controlling where your body and the objects around you go. You're in complete control. It's almost as if you have your own gravitational pull." I gasped at how powerful I suddenly felt, how light I felt inside myself.
"That is extraordinary.." Carlilse was there now too, looking up at me in awe.
"And I thought Alice's gift was cool." Emmett muttered. Alice elbowed him in the ribs.
