I looked outside the plane window watching the marshmallow-like clouds disappearing one after the other as we flew by. London was our last stop to visit and then our around the world trip would come to an end, which meant that it was finally time to come back to reality and begin the start of my life in the real world. You see, my best friend (Emily) and I just graduated from university and to treat ourselves for all our efforts we decided to take an around the world holiday with each other for 3 months. We first went to Singapore, then Dubai, New York, Los Angeles, Rome, Paris and now finally London. I can’t even begin to explain how amazing this trip has been and the amount of shopping that has been done…oh boy. All I can say is is that when I come home there is going to be a very large credit card bill waiting for me.
It was now 6:00AM and we finally arrived at Heathrow Airport. Even though the flight time was only 1 hour long, I was exhausted. I hate flying. I can never seem to get comfortable in the chairs and I always end up feeling light headed and queazy. To top it all off I looked like a mess. My long dark brown hair was now a mix of a crazy cat lady and a bird’s nest -how it got that way, I will never know. As we gathered our suit cases we made our way out of the airport to find a taxi. I looked at Emily and she had this big smile across her face. I could tell she was completely ecstatic to be here because it had always been a dream of hers since she was little. Her blue eyes met mine and widened, “HOLLY! WE’RE FINALLY HERE!!!! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? WE’RE IN LONDON! I’m so glad we chose to go to London as our last stop, we are going to run this town.”
Her excitement overwhelmed me and I couldn’t help but get just as excited. All I could do was squeal and repeat the words “Oh my God.” over and over again.
“I’m gone get me some British boy candehhhh!” I said as I wriggled my eyebrows. Emily laughed and winked at me, “Oh Holly, I know you will.”
I’ve always had a thing for British boys, although I’ve never gotten the chance to actually meet one, let alone date one. But you know.. they always look so gorgeous in the movies and television shows. Oh and the accents, God, don’t even get me started on that. Pure swoonage material. So being here in London, full of beautiful boys I can finally have my chance. It will be like swimming in an ocean full of British beauties. You know what they say, “there are plenty of fish in the sea”, and it looks like I’m in the right place to go fishing.
The taxi pulled up at our hotel, the Four Seasons, and the taxi driver helped us take all of our luggage out of the taxi. I looked up to see the hotel and my eyes widened at how amazing the hotel looked. I looked around and the hotel was in the most perfect location. Hyde Park was just minutes away and Hard Rock Cafe, just across the road. Looking around, taking everything in, I could not believe I was in London. Life was good. Little did I know though, life was soon going to get better.
“Holly, are you going to just stand there looking like a complete retard with your mouth wide open? Or are you going to help me with our luggage and get your skinny little ass over here?” Emily said. I poked my tongue out at Emily and got out of my trance, grabbed my luggage and caught up with her, shoving her out of my way giggling. Despite the fact that I was turning 21 in a couple of weeks, I was always going to act like a 6 year old child. As we both walked into the hotel our eyes filled up with amazement. The hotel inside was just as beautiful on the outside. We squealed and made our way to the desk to grab our keys to our room. Once we did, I took Emily’s hand and we raced to the elevator laughing. Who knows what everyone was thinking of us, but we didn’t care because we were in freakin London, in a freakin 5 star hotel. We opened the door to our room and I fell to the floor squealing. I could not believe how amazing the room was. Emily ran inside to check everything out and I picked myself up and followed. This by far was actually the best hotel we had been at, we figured we’d spend the most in London seeing as it was our last stop.
