I looked at the clock hanging above the counter waiting for it to hit 8 pm so I could leave. I had been here since 9 this morning covering for my best friend Isabella.
Lou, the cook and my friend, came around the corner with a plate of hamburger and french fries in one hand and fish and chips in the other.
" You look dead Jasmine. Why don't you go home. " Handing me the two plates I shook my head.
" Gee thanks. Way to make a girl feel pretty." I replied sarcastically grinning. He winked at me and went back to the kitchen.
I walked over to the table easily holding the tray. I set the plates on the table in front of the young couple.
" What would you like to drink? " I asked politely looking at them both.
The girl cleared her throat and looked pointedly at me. Well then. What's her problem.
" Stop staring at my boyfriend. You're getting drool on my food. " She says snidely smoothing her greased up hair. Bitch.
I rolled my eyes in no mood to deal with her. I pinched the bridge of my nose. Calm down Jasmine.
" Very nice girlfriend you have here. What drink? " I say sarcastically.
" She's very nice I swear. And uh, 2 cokes please? " She glared at me as I took his order.
" Slut. " Coughing under her breath. That's it!
I slammed my notepad on the table. Seething with anger.
" I have NO interest in your boyfriend! But trust me when I say I could take him if I wanted to! Say one more word and you're going to be drinking your food through a straw! I swear to God if I ever see you again you're going to regret it. " I took a deep breath and turned to walk away.
I see Lou watching me grinning." I'm taking your advice. See you tomorrow. "
With that I walk out of the restaurant into the cold air.
