" I think it might be!" April replied while standing up and brushing her hands against her clothes to straight them.
After this she reached out her hand to Sterling and Sterling grabbed on and she stood up. Before they left, they looked at each other, let out a sigh of anxiousness and kissed each other softly on the lips.
Turning to the door, they pulled it open and walked out. They were still holding hands while they walked down the stairs towards the kitchen where Debbie was.
Right before entering, they dropped their hands out of habit of seeing another person and not wanting to reveal themselves.
"Hi girls!" Debbie said with wide eyes. "Yall hungry? I'm making casserole?"
"Uh yes mom that sounds delicious.." before Sterling could say another word her mom had already started talking.
"Ok perfect! So April, how is fellowship? I hear you got fellowship leader after this one here quit it!" Debbie said with a little point over to Sterling.
"Oh I'm liking it Mrs. Wesley. Sterlings bin helping me lots. Lock-in wouldn't have gone how it did without the both of us." April said while looking at Sterling and they both shared a look of 'thats damn right. Whole night was a shitshow for the 2 of us.'
"Well, I'm glad to see you guys are friends again. I never understood that feud yall had." Debbie said while she was prepping the casserole for the oven.
"Well mom thats what we wanted to talk to you about." Sterling piped up, taking a step closer to April.
"Talk to me about what?" Debbie asked while she looked over to the 2 girls standing on the other side of the table.
"Well um... Mrs. Wesley... uh.." April started to speak but her nerves got the best of her. Debbie's face was in complete confusion as to what was going on until Sterling blurted out,
"MOM APRIL IS MY GIRLFRIEND." She said this so loud that before anyone could even blink Blair had run into the room laughing her ass off.
"What honey? Like, April is your friend? I thought we already established that?"
This causing Blair to laugh even harder. Grabbing the counter to stop herself from falling over.
"Blair won't you quit!" Debbie said with a stern voice but it didn't stop Blairs laughter at all. It actually fuelled it a bit more.
Sterling gave her head a shake and blocked out Blair from her view with her hand out of annoyment and said, "Mom no. Like in the gay way."
Blairs hysterical laughter had caused April to giggle a little bit as well.
"Well darling I dont care! At least yall can't get pregnant. I didnt think you were gay Sterl. I actually thought Blair was the one who was gonna be comin out to us!" Debbie replied with the support any child would want to here.
But this did cause Blairs laughter to stop and Sterling and April's to start up.
"Mom what??!! You thought I was gay?" Looking over the Sterling she in twin speak said, "Not that its bad sis. I just didn't expect mom to say that."
Sterling replied in twin talk with "oh Blair I know but thats hilarious."
"Fuck you!" Blair responded jokingly.
Then twin speak ended and Debbie said, "Well Blair. You're just a little eccentric. Nothing wrong with that darlin. I love you anyway you are." Debbie said with a little giggle.
"Mooom that is so stereotypical! I'll tell you right now. Im straight." Blair finished her statement and went right to the fridge to grab a snack."
"Well back to you and April." Debbie said with a head nod towards Sterling. "How long have yall been together?"
"Umm since the Solomons Temple Project." April responded.
"Are yall gay or what?"
"Well I am gay. Always have known." April replied, feeling very awkward about talking to an adult like this.
"And I'm not gay. I like guys and girls." Sterling responded.
"So bisexual?" Debbie asked.
"No. I dont wanna put a label on it. Im just gonna be me." Sterling replied bubbly.
"April do your folks know?" Debbie asked walking towards the girls in a neutral tone. She learns against the counter in front of them.
"Um no Mrs. Wesley. And I cant have them knowing." April replied fidgeting with her fingers and staring at the floor.
"Why is that?" Debbie asked softly.
"Well my dad just got out of prison. He really hates the guys and if he finds out I would most definitely be kicked out and he might even hurt me." April replied. Tears in her eyes knowing that Mrs. Wesley is the only adult who will know her secret and fear for a long time to come.
"Oh my gosh April, come here." Mrs. Wesley embraced April in a big hug and April let her tears fall onto the older womans shoulder.
"We will make sure we don't bring anything up to them okay?"April replied with a very soft okay and then Mrs. Westley said, "We won't even bring up yalls friendship until yall say it's okay to. And you are welcome in this home always."
April felt so relieved to hear these words come from Debbie and after their long hug, April finally pulled back and said, "Thank you so much Mrs, Westley. You don't know how much it means to me."
"Oh kiddo. You are welcome." with the end of Debbie's reply she gave April a little brush if the hair and said to the 2 girls, "Well! I do believe the casserole is done. Yall can get the dishes and let's eat!"
April and Sterlinf giggled then started to set up the table for dinner.
