At school the two girls start their quest to become "friends" again. Before the bell rings in the morning Sterling goes to get a water from the vending machine but is a quarter short when April "just so happens" to walk by.
"Hey, April? Do you think I could borrow a quarter? I dropped mine and it went under the stupid machine." Sterling asks as April walks by with Hannah B.
"Yeah, I guess. But you owe me." April says with sass and a wink. A wink that only Sterling sees.
"Thank you. You got it."
"Wait.. I thought we didn't like Sterling?" Hannah B says.
"Well, I don't hate her. Since working on the lock-in and our project we are fine." April replied like she is glossing over this information and ready to move on to the next topic.
In her head she is really thinking 'and the ball is rolling'. Knowing that Hannah B will tell everyone that her and Sterling's feud is finally over.
"Anyways see you in fellowship." April says as she walks away and heads to her next class.
When fellowship rolls by, by coincidence, the seat next to April happens to be the only free seat so Sterling sits next to her.
They talk to each other like they are acquaintances, loud enough for everyone to hear but not loud enough for it to be obvious that they are up to something.
Throughout all of fellowship, only Blair could notice the looks that the two were sharing and Blair was actually quite happy that her sister was falling in love. But she will keep the to herself because April can't know that Blair approves.
After fellowship, Sterling and April hang back while everyone leaves. They have a spare class and this isn't abnormal of them as they are planning homecoming together.
When absolutely everyone is gone, Sterling closes the blinds and the two sit next to each other and cuddle into the seat together and talk about their day so far.
"I think everyone is buying it so far!" April exclaims.
"I do too babe. Soon they won't even notice if we sit together at lunchtime." Sterling replied with a boop on April's nose when she says "lunchtime".
They get up and start walking around the room, and make their way to the back corner away from the door and start making out.
What they didn't notice during this make-up session was when Ellen walked through the door.
"Ah hem." Ellen pretends to clear her through while obviously trying to not make eye contact with either girl.
"Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god." April starts whisper yelling as they break apart fast.
"Ellen, it's not what it looks like." Sterling says as she steps towards Ellen.
"Then what did I see?" Ellen sarcastically says as she squints her eyes.
"Uhmm... well you see... we were.. uhh... April had... and I tried..." Sterling was trying to come up with a logical explanation but was failing hard. April was just stood there like there wasn't a soul behind her eyes and she was going through an existential crisis where her spirit has left Earth.
"Sterling, stop." Ellen says firmly.
Sterling stopped talking but her mouth kept opening and closing like she was a fish.
"Sterling close your mouth. April come back to this realm." Ellen says as she walks towards the girls. April snaps out of it but goes pale. Sterling closes her mouth and goes pale.
Ellen gently grabbs the two girls and brings them both over to the seat and gently pushes them so they sit down.
She then grabs a stool and sits down in front of them.
"Girls, I don't care. I knew that yall were friends again but I didn't know that this was going on. I support the gays." Ellen says with a little nod then continues, "but the way you two reacted just now let's me know that you guys need to talk. So I'm a lending ear. What's going on?"
Sterling and April fill Ellen in on what is going on between the two of them and the dangers of people knowing.
"Well girls, I won't tell anyone. But I have your back if you ever need help. But please try not to make out infront of my office again. It's a little awkward."
