hogwarts, outside professor mcgonagall's office.THE HOUR was up, and finally Professor Mcgonagall had reluctantly let you go off to your dormitory (though only after an additional warning to never say words like 'tom riddle' and 'cute' in the same sentence ever again). You bid your goodbyes with a promise to the adult that you would never mess around again, even though both of you knew otherwise. Before you left the room however, already gripping on the door handle, you remember Ron's words and the fact that he was undoubtedly waiting for you outside. Nervousness was an understatement since it was tangled along with the feelings of slight bitterness.
Truth to be told, you were still upset by your past interaction with the boy, especially when he seemed to be so easily influenced by someone who clearly only liked him for his fame. You still felt at fault, of course, since that was only possible because of your indifference towards him-
"What are you waiting for?", Professor Mcgonagall suddenly spoke out, making you jolt back around to face her. "I've already dismissed you, why are you still here?". Your cheeks immediately flushed in embarrassment as you mutter an apology.
"My bad. See you, professor", you murmured while finally heading outside, unbeknownst to the entertained look she wore.
Once you closed the door behind you, you're greeted by the figure of Ron leaning against a pillar in front of the room. His expression blank while an arm crossed over his chest, the other mindlessly scrolling on his phone. He was a little too engrossed on the device he held, that automatically you knew he must've been looking at something Quidditch-related. He looked nice, maybe.
In an attempt to gain his attention, you cleared your throat which worked instantly. He slightly bounced back in surprise while his hand tightly grasped on the wand on his pocket.
"Chill-It's just me", you deadpanned while walking closer towards him. He watched your every move until you stopped just right besides him. "Let's talk somewhere else. Don't think Mcgonagall would appreciate us doing this right in front of her office", motioning to the same door you just came from.
"Sure, where then?", he asked as he looked around the castle in hopes to find a secluded area.
"How about the Astronomy tower?"
✧
The last time you stepped in the tower with the same boy just right beside you was at least a month ago already. After he had revealed he liked your company and offered to simply chill at the area, you would be lying if you said your heart didn't flutter at the sudden information. The two of you took things in a serious note that night, even to the point of talking about the future after Hogwarts. He wished to be an Auror while you were still undecided about it. Don't worry-we have so much time in the world! he said at the time with such carefreeness.
That was a time in which you automatically assumed his flirtatious attempts in wooing you were just his own personality, a type of joke he was used to doing. But what he didn't know was that you were growing to like his attempts in a way that made you excitedly wait for the next day to come. How couldn't you grow to appreciate the boy? Even if you were stuck together like glue, teasing each other with no end, it wouldn't be a surprise if he got sick of you at the end of the week. Yet he was always there running to you, especially when you were sad, coming up with numerous ways in cheering you up. In conclusion, he was a friend you really appreciated.
You found yourself wanting to give back to the boy, and thus came the idea of gifting him beverages he would've enjoyed. Coffee. Problem was, you never knew what he liked (something you felt super bad for since he would probably know yours in one second) so you decided why not? and always got every flavour possible. One time, Ginny even caught you in the act of stealing Harry's very own Invisibility Cloak while your hands grasped on trays of coffee. She swore secrecy since you held numerous types of blackmail. Even though he would show confusion or give the drinks away, even throwing them sometimes, since he stupidly believed them to be some form of pranks. You never told him it was you though, it seemed too embarrassing going full lengths for someone who didn't like you. It was dumb, but you felt as if it was enough. In conclusion, you found yourself doing things you thought he would've appreciated.
