The sun, the vibes, the shopping and the boys. LA is the place to be. You have all of these great qualities put into one place and you really do get what I like to call paradise. I'm Courtney Hayes. And yes, I do live in Los Angeles.
Today started out as any other regular day would for me. I woke up, ate breakfast, then headed off to school. Except, today wasn't like those other days. At school, there was just something about the people, the teachers even the old cafeteria lady seemed out of place. I was confused at everyone's behaviour. I couldn't even in my friends. I snapped out of my deep train of thought when an announcement chimed over the intercom.
"Please excuse the interruption. Students, we will be heading to the auditorium for a quick presentation after lunch. Please be quick and don't waste any time. Thank you."
I decided to eat my lunch quickly as head to the music class where I could practice the guitar. I didn't bother going out to look for my group of friends, I just sat alone in the room, drifting away to the sound of the chords I strummed slowly.

Once the bell rung, I rushed toward the auditorium. I walked down one of the three aisles and found my friends sitting in the front of the stage.
"There you are! Where were you at lunch?" I ask.
"We were just doing something for a chem lab," Jill, one of my closest friends replies.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a very special performance that goes out to a special young lady today. Please give a warm welcome to Seth Phillips!" Our principal announces. Everyone applauds.
"Hi there," Seth says awkwardly, "this goes out to Courtney Hayes." My heart feels like it dropped to the floor. Butterflies form immediately in my stomach. This isn't happening. Oh my god. "Courtney, close our eyes for 30 seconds please," Seth announces. So I do. I don't even peek until Seth tells me to open up my eyes. What I see in front of me right now is almost unexplainable. Maybe even something from a fairytale. My friends grab my arms and guide me towards the stage. I can barely walk. This is hapening. Right here, right now. Now I know why everyone was being suspicious.
