I Meant Tea

The door to her bedroom burst open with such force it banged against the wall, startling everyone in the room.

"Lucas!" Athanasia exclaimed upon seeing the black haired boy,"wh-what's wrong?"

He looked somewhat surprised, staring at her for a moment without saying anything before his expression turned into worried annoyance.

"That's my line," his eyebrows furrowed slightly, approaching her bed which she sat on, with two maids flanking each side currently.

"What happened? They told me you fell sick, did your mana overfow again?" the magician began checking her for any irregularities in her mana reserves, only to find that nothing was out of the ordinary.

"Lucas I'm fine! It was just a slight fever," Athanasia tried to wave his hands away, slightly flustered at all the attention he was giving her.

He blinked once before plopping down on the bed, realisation dawning on him.

"Aw, so you really do care!" she grinned, the worry that was etched on his face a few moments ago still fresh in her mind, she poked his cheek teasingly.

"Your tea, princess," a maid handed her a steaming cup of lippe tea before scurrying out to leave the two alone (and to maybe peep on them discreetly from behind the door).

"Ah, thank you," Athanasia blew delicately at the steaming drink before taking a sip, momentarily forgetting her companion's presence.

"Tch. These people are getting so worked up over a light fever, don't they know I'm busy?" he stands up to leave but she catches his hand.

"Please don't go...oh great magician, sir. I'll get better soon with you here," she gives him her best pleading face, one Athanasia knows full well he can't resist.

He couldn't help but blush at her wanting him to stay. It felt like just yesterday she was getting so distressed that they were going to get stuck as playmates. How the times have changed.

"You are so annoying," he rolled his eyes as he flicked her forehead, but decided to sit down and stay.

"Yay!" Athanasia beamed, taking another sip of tea, trying to ignore the fact that she felt him inching closer and closer to her.

"I'm going to fall behind on my work for you, don't you think I deserve a reward?" he asked, pointing to his lips.

The gears turned in her head, realising what he was asking for.

"Wh-wha! Lucas-I," if her fever was slight before, she was sure that her body temperature felt dangerous high right about now.

Should she give him what he wanted? A small kiss wouldn't hurt right? If she was being completely honest...it wasn't like she was 100% against it either.

Her heart was beating so loud she could hear it in her ears, the lightness she felt from her fever increasing as she slowly edged towards him. But why...was he smirking like that?

"My my princess you've gone so red your fever must've gone up," he said mockingly, taking the opportunity of her momentary confusion to take the cup of tea from her hands and downed the whole thing.

He placed the now empty teacup on her bedside table that was on the opposite end, getting closer to her ear while he was at it,"when I said reward, I meant tea, what did you think I meant?"

Her blush had gone down from confusion but she had flared up again, becoming as red as his eyes.

"Lucas you misleading jerk!" Athanasia pushed him so hard he fell to the floor with a dull thump.

"Ow, jeez I didn't think you were actually planning to go for it," he rubbed his backside, trying to suppress the blood that was creeping up to his face. She looked really cute just then, pouting and flustered like that.

"You are going to be the death of me," she groaned, suddenly regretting asking him to stay. He was going to make her even more sick!

"Can I still have that kiss the-"

"No!"
