Liam POV:
"Have some coffee, Liam." Danielle slid a styrophome cup of shitty coffee over to me, but I pushed it back accross the table, glaring at the steaming cup.
"It smells like hell." I retorted. She sighed longingly. I know she hates it when I don't coopperate.
"This place is hell." She shrugged. "But, the people here are going to help Amelia."
"Do you even hear yourself?" I spit. "She ended up here because of us."
"Liam-"
"No, Danielle, it's all my fault. I should've taken her keys. How did I let her leave?!" I demanded.
"Liam, I know her. She gets so insecure about the cutting thing. And when you found out..." Her vocie trailed off and I scowled down into the shitty cup of coffee.
"Tell me about her condition." I decided, lifting the cup to my nose. The stench was foul.
"A doctor said that she lost a lot of blood." Dani told me. "That, and she slit her wrists, cutting the veins. I think they were able to go in and do some surgical procedure. You know that I don't really understand medical stuff." She shrugged. "They said she's stable, but her body is working extremely hard to make up for the blood she lost."
"So she'll be okay?" I asked. Danielle nodded slowly.
"They think." She replied. I swayed the cup around a bit, causing the coffee to wash around in a circle.
"Where's her mum? Catherine?" I asked.
"She went for a walk." Danielle said.
"So a drink?" I replied. Danielle nodded again. I took a sip of the coffee, instantly regretting it. I spat it out into a napkin, wrinkling up my nose at the sour taste.
"This very well may be the worst coffee I've ever had the misery of washing over my tatsebuds." I said bitterly. Danielle laughed at me.
"You sound like my dad." She giggled. That got me laughing too. And before you knew it, the mood was a tad lighter. Danielle's eyes met mine and I took her hand from across the table.
"Thank you, Danielle." I whispered. She smiled her amazing smile.
"Liam, she's my best friend."
"No, I mean thank you for comforting me." I said quietly. "Thank you for introducing me to Amelia."
"Even when we were together, I knew that Milly would be perfect for you." Dani shrugged. "It actually kinda pissed me off at first. But it's okay, we're all so happy now. You and Milly, me and Andy..."
"Oh, did that twat finally admit it to you?!" I asked. She blushed.
"We've been together for about a month."
I shook my head in amazment. "Me and your best friend, you and mine. Weird."
"Extremely." She agreed. "But it's okay, because I like it that way."
"You're amazing." I decided. She winked and we both laughed once again.
It felt good to laugh.
******
"Can we go in?" I whispered to Danielle as we walked down the quiet hallway. She nodded, her now blond hair falling into her eyes.
"She'll want you to be the first thing she sees when she wakes up." Danielle assured me. I wasn't as confidant about that statment, but gave my friend a smile.
As we approached the room, I heard voices.
"Mum, just stop!" Amelia's voice.
"Amelia, you have to take the medication!" Her mother...
"Your mother is right, Amelia. It'll help keep the cuts clean." a random man?
"Soap and water can do the same thing." Amelia, sarcastic and witty as ever. My heart started racing.
"Amelia-" her mother again.
"Mum, I'm not getting needles!"
"Doctor, I'm sorry about my daughter."
"She needs this medication, Ms. Kensington." so this man must be the doctor?
"Oh yeah? What are you gonna do, poke me with that needle in my sleep?! Fat chance!"
"Amelia!" I rushed into the room. Amelia was sitting up in bed, looking full of life, not like she had two hours ago. She wore my batman long sleeve, and what looked like my old boxer shorts. She was holding a cup of tea, sipping it. A doctor stood nearby with a siringe, and her mother stood on the other side.
"Liam? What the fuc-" I cut her off by running across the room and slamming my lips onto hers. Danielle whistled from her place in the doorway.
"Oh my god that god you're okay!" I said, my voice elated. Amelia smiled against my lips, her eyes meeting mine.
"You came." She whispered.
"Of course I came!" I whispered back, my voice cracked and high from the tears streaming from my eyes. She wiped them away with her thumbs.
"I love you." She told me, kissing my lips.
"Never leave me again." I said, wrapping my arms around her.
"Never." She agreed.
