Tea Party

Keefe was excited for Biana's party. He would be able to spend some time with his friends and get away from his dad for a couple hours. A win-win! Plus, he got to spend more time with Sophie.

"Foster!" Keefe called, jogging past a few of his friends to get to Sophie.

She smiled when she saw him. "Hey, Keefe."

"How are you holding up?" He hated small talk, but knew it was better than getting into the depths of their lives.

"Good. What about you?"

"Same ol', same ol', Foster, good-looking and-"

Keefe was cut off by Biana, who opened the grand doors to the ballroom.

"Welcome one and all!" She said, holding her arms up as she walked into the ballroom.

It was beautifully decorated, with the circular tables literring the right side of the room, covered with white tablecloths, flowers as the centerpieces, along with teacups and teapots. Light pink, green, blue, and yellow ribbon hung from the ceiling. There was a dance floor in the middle. Keefe noticed a rectangular table at the left side of the room.

"This is where we'll be sitting." Biana explained, gesturing to the rectangular table.

Everyone hurried to find their name tags. Biana sat against the wall, probably so she could supervise her party while eating. Sophie sat next to her, who sat next to Keefe, then Fitz at the end. Stina sat next to Fitz, then Linh, then Wylie, and Tam at the other end next to Biana.

Keefe knew this was no coincidence. Nonetheless, Keefe kept his mouth shut as he sat next to Sophie.

Across the table from Keefe sat Stina. She was actually a pleasant girl. Keefe's friends had made a point to include her in more things and hang out with her, so now she was one of their friends.

Stina softly smiled at Keefe and he smiled back.

Some guests started to trickle in and Biana suggested they walk around and greet everyone.

After a half hour, the ballroom was packed! Gnomes bustled around, acting as waiters for the night. Students happily chatted among themselves, enjoying the out-of-school event.
