(That's me in the picture above)
A/N I do not own any of the characters from the Avengers/Thor universe. I would like to thank the man who provided the internet with the transcript of the movie. I own only my characters and my storyline. And if you would please give this story a chance, it will blossom so. Thank you! Enjoy!
The Tesseract's behaving. Not long ago, it had gained a conscience all a sudden- turning itself on without a flick of a switch. Gritting my teeth, I shifted into a more comfortable position than a half crouch. The Tesseract had been fished up from the sea a couple of years back and since then, S.H.I.E.L.D has been trying to experiment on it like they would do on an animal.
Director Fury had been the one to issue the order, along with the Council's approval. How stupid can you get? Hello, people! You do not go around and fish up some random object that clearly belongs somewhere else! Especially when it is something that looks to be from outer space with its cosmic blue energy.
Sometimes I think that man has no common sense; he is such an idiot. If I could have the opportunity to rip-
"Ouch! Katra! Get off my foot!" Clint cried, elbowing me in my ribs, I elbowed him back as I rolled my eyes while shifting over in our little nest. Clint gave me a hard scowl before returning to watching for any more disturbances.
Like there was not already enough, what with the building shaking and the Tesseract's energy levels spiking off the charts every two minutes.
I, too, went back to watching the damn thing, already bored out of my mind. My arms brushed against Clint's side as I shifted to try and get comfortable again, only Clint was taking up half of the space between us. Grunting, I pressed myself up against the wall to at least get some space; no such luck.
"Space hugger." I muttered under my breath; Clint narrowed his eyes at me. Oops. He'd heard that. Oh, well.
I smiled sweetly while he rolled his eyes and ignored me. Shaking my head, I focused on the doctor's panels. Doctor Selvig was there, trying to contain the Tesseract's out-of-control levels but to no such prevail. I felt kind of sorry for him; He'd been dragged into this project by the Council and the Director.
Clint sighed heavily and rubbed his face, pinching the bridge of his nose. My poor big brother. He was stressed out to his limit, despite my help, hence the reason why I was sitting up here with him doing boring surveillance work.
I squeezed his arm reassuringly, offering him a smile, yet he blanked the comfort I was offering. Sighing, I sat back and continued to watch Doctor Selvig work on turning the Tesseract off. I should probably explain my brother's and I's relationship:
When we were seven and four, our parents abandoned us on the streets to survive in the big, wide world, where cruelty was the highest common goal to live by. We were found by Social Services and placed up for foster homes and/or adoption. Together, we had faced many challenges, but Clint had overcome them like they were nothing.
Later, in his teens, Clint took up archery lessons and found out his abilities laid within his weaponry skills. With his hawk-like gaze, he was able to hit his target every time. S.H.I.E.L.D found out about him and recruited him on the spot, giving him the codename 'Hawkeye'. I remember when he-
"Agents Barton, report to me." Nick Fury commanded through our earpieces. I gritted my teeth at his demanding tone. Would it kill the man to say, please? Clint got up and hooked a zip wire to the handrail, clipping himself to it before turning to give me a stern look.
"Don't piss him off, Kat," he ordered, I gave him an innocent look.
"Me? Piss off the director? Never, " I replied, crossing my fingers behind my back. Clint gave me a disbelieving look before dropping down the zip wire to the ground.
