Yooo, wassup peeps, it's been a minute😂.
Here is another update, I hope you enjoy, and when you do, please don't forget to hit the star button♡♡♡♡♡
NainaSo Mom found out about this safe space group at here in Maitama, so she had me enrolled in, according to her, it will bring me closer to people like me, you know sick people like me. How exciting!
So she drove me to this auditorium like building.
"Nana, it's going to be fine. Make friends, okay? "She said and kissed my forehead.
I grab my cross bag closer and braced myself for what I was heading into.As I gently pushed the glass door, it made a squeak sound, kinda announcing my entrance, diverting 24 pairs of eyes to me plus the lady who I suppose is the leader, 26 pairs.
The middle aged caramel toned woman gave me a warm smile.
"Hi Naina, come on in."
That was my cue to seat on the empty chair, the setting was like a circle. I saw teens my age.
" Well guys, this is Naina, she's going to be joining us today. Naina, Welcome to Cards Squad, Cards is an abbreviation for Cardiology, meaning everyone here has a distinct Cardiovascular disorder just like you. But here, we don't see it as a disorder but as an opportunity to be different and unique. " She explained.
"My name is Bisola by the way." She added.
I nodded trying to process the information I just found out.
"So, Naina, would you like to introduce yourself properly?"Bisola asked.
"No, thank you. " I managed to say.
" Well then, Ejiro would like to share your experience with us."Bisola pointed at the girl who was sitting at my opposite side.
"My name is Fejiro, I'm 18 and I have CAD, well not alot of you are aware what CAD is, CAD is an abbreviation for Coronary Artery Disease. It's caused by the buildup of plaques in the coronary arteries, the coronary arteries are the blood vessels in charge of the supply of oxygen rich blood to the heart...I didn't know I had CAD till recently, 2 years ago.. I had angina but I mistook it for heartburn, so it grew worse coupled with the shortness of breath.
So my parents had me see the family doctor and she referred me to my cardiologist, who diagnosed me with CAD..it hasn't been easy... I didn't have friends then, but my siblings have been helpful through it all. I'm home schooled by the way. But I'm glad to be in Cards Squad. It's really a safe space. Thank you Bisola. " she explained.
And we all applauded.
" Thank you so much for sharing and you are most welcome." Bisola said.
And a timid Dele had his own session. It was so cool to know I wasn't alone in this. Bisola was a survivor of pericarditis, so she made the safe space to help others like her.
So few hours later, all the sessions were done, I was waiting for the driver to come get me.
As I sat on a slab, I inserted my airpods into my ear as I listened to Wonder by Shawn Mendes. Someone tapped me by the shoulder, so I turned to see who it was.
It was this beautiful light skinned lady,
"Hey, I'm Kira."She said in a seldom tone.
"Naina." I replied.
"Well pretty girl, Cards is a safe space you know, try and be more open."She said.
"Yea..yeah, it helps." Timid Ejiro said.. picking her words slowly.
"Oh I didn't notice you there, you're Fejiro right??" I asked.
"Yes but call me Ejiro, everyone does well except Kira here, she calls me Ej." She replied.
" Nice to meet you, Kira and Ej, i mean Ejiro. Well the thing is..all these, I'm not used to meeting people like me. It feels strange but I'll try." I said.Wait, wait, wait...just hold up! Did Kira just call you pretty, call me pretty..well technically we are the same person. But did you hear that too? .. Dear God, subconscious stop interrupting my story!! So ya'll should ignore her please. * Rolls eye * (it's official, my subconscious mind has gone crazy)
"You should. So who are you waiting for? A boyfriend? Sibling? Parent? Who?" Kira asked.
I scoffed when she said boyfriend.
"Well my driver and no boyfriend, no siblings and my parents are busy."I replied.
"Huh. Okay. I could drop you off if you want." Kira offered.
"I would love that but my driver is on his way, he's probably just running late..." I said, checking my time and realizing it's almost 2:30 when I'm supposed to have my drugs.
"Yoo, I insist. "Kira persisted.
So I obliged and hopped into her matte black range rover, packed at the parking lot beside the building.
"Nice car." I complimented.
"Thanks, she's my baby.. I got her for my 16th birthday. " She said.
"Ej, you are all settled in?"she asked.
"Yeah I'm good." Ejiro replied.
Kira kickstarted the engine and the car came alive and we drove out of the lot.
