(Danial's POV.)
When you have expected your life to go to the path you choose, it may go wrong, there's always another choice, either go forward or turn back, but sometimes, before you realize it, it's too late.
For instance, a whirlpool drags you in, you can't go back once you're pulled in.
I once had a "friend" who's not really my friend, he was more, so much more, but no one else knew since I wanted to keep our relationship a secret, he wanted the opposite, he wanted to shout it out to the world that I was his, but still respected my choices.
I only wanted to focus on my studies, live a good life. When he and I first met unexpectedly, he bothered me ever since, that was when our relationship slowly developed. I let him enter in my life, maybe. . . that's where it went all wrong.
I didn't think about the future, at least not with him in it, he was the least I expected in my life, let alone my future. Later, I found out that there's too many obstacles to face, I'm afraid we can't handle it, that it'd push our limits at the edge of the cliff, I knew my parents wanted me to marry a woman and have children on our own, well, they separated after my brother's relationship with another guy existed. The point was, my life was already set up in a perfect plan where I raise up the expectations, the perfect child.
Though it was painful, I had to break up with him on our graduation night, even if that day is the saddest, it should've been the happiest, for both of us, for me to not regret later on in life if my life does become successful.
My parents were not to blame for the reason why I did it, there was another reason too, and another after that, the truth is too complicated and too quiet to speak out, the truth. . . may never be told, maybe never revealed to him, so he may never know, it's probably for the best. For both of us.
After that night of graduation, I packed my bags and left my home to go abroad quickly, the quicker I leave, the easier everything behind. I'll admit, it took me a while to forget about him, at least for the time being. Yet, my current years that are passing by, I still think about him.
Later then, I was done studying abroad and soon purposed to a girlfriend I had during studying overseas, we held off the wedding, everything was almost just perfect, until a month later after I got the job in a company, there was a company contract that connected him and I again.
Nothing stayed the same.
It's different, although I spoke out to others that my life is okay, something has definitely changed.
We cannot go back.
My life was held by the eternal love.

~Year 2016 (age 14)~
I was reading a book, outside of an cafe in the fall.
Suddenly, two hands touched my shoulders from behind, "Boo!"
I got startled and jumped a little, "Blake! What the heck?! That scared me."
He laughs, "Sorry, my bad. What are you reading?"
"The Passage by Justin Cronin."
"What is it about?"
"'An epic and gripping tale of catastrophe and survival, The Passage is the story of Amy—abandoned by her mother at the age of six, pursued and then imprisoned by the shadowy figures behind a government experiment of apocalyptic proportions'." I read from the back of the book.
"Hmmm, interestingly boring, you like it so far?"
"It's okay." I said as I rolled my eyes, knowing he's not really interested in books.
"You're always reading, let's have some fun at least, take a break from books." He whined.
"No, thanks."
"Come on!" He pulls me up from the chair, dragging me along.
He takes me to an amusement park, we spent our time making enjoyable memories.
~Present Day-year 2024 (age 22)~
"Danial, Danial..." a voice echos.
I reluctantly opened my eyelids.
"Danial, wake up. You have to go to the interview." Maddie said.
"How'd you get in here?" I asked with a sleepy tone.
She rolls her eyes and laughs, "You forgot?" She holds up a key for my apartment.
"Oh yeah, oops. Anyways, I'm up." I yawned.
"'Kay, get ready, don't fall back asleep, I'll make you breakfast."
As she goes downstairs, I took a shower and dressed formal, I went downstairs and ate breakfast that Maddie made, which was eggs on a toast with bacon, I brushed my teeth after that.
I gathered everything that I need for the interview.
"I'm leaving!" I shouted out to Maddie.
"Wait," she comes to where I was and gives me a kiss, "Good luck, tell me how it goes later and you, sir, Keaton, have a great day, smile."
I smiled, "Alrighty then, love you." I gave her a peck on the cheek.
I left and drove to the company.

I was in line, getting nervous, other people around me were too.
Two people were in front of me, "Next." Never-mind, just one.
I didn't even know who the judges were, sometimes it's hard to impress them, what if I don't get the position as a personal secretary?
"Next."
I gulped, I was next after this person.
A few minutes later, I heard, "Next."
I gathered up all my courage and walked in the interview room.
