Tommy's POV
I walk up the stairs as quiet as I can with a sleeping Vive in my arms. It was an exhausting evening for both of us. After our conversation, she immediately fell asleep on my shoulder.
I slowly open the door with my foot and lay her down on the bed. I sit on the side as I pull the covers over her, carefully so I won't wake her up. I give her a kiss on her forehead and make my way to my own room. Even though I feel exhausted I'm too busy in my head right now to catch some sleep. I worry about tomorrow. After tonight I'm not comfortable with her being to school at all. Tonight I spoke courage to her but that was more to not project my own fears on her. Kids her age can be extremely immature and mean towards one another, know that well enough myself. John and Arthur did nothing but bother other kids and annoy them when we were in school. I don't think Vive can handle much more this year and all I want is to protect her.
Vive's POV
My nerves woke me up very early today, what gave me some extra time to get myself ready. I pay a little more attention to myself this morning so I'm confident and well during the day. I have a long schooldays with a lot of lectures luckily most of them without Luke. Despite for the last one, which was always my favorite one because we sit together and walk each other home afterwards. I bet today that won't happen. I don't care if he'll ignore me today, which is what I expect. The only I hope is that he kept last Friday for himself. He embarrassed me enough I think.
When I walk into the kitchen Tommy and Polly are already up and they're both eating breakfast and reading the paper. I'm not hungry even though I haven't had a good meal in days.
"How are you feeling darling?" Polly asks.
"Better." I say, giving her a little smile as I put my books in my schoolbag.
"I gotta go." I say giving my aunt a kiss on her cheek.
When I walk towards the hallway Tommy follows me.
"Vive, wait. You okay after yesterday?" He asks putting his hands on his hips.
"I'm fine." I smile, trying to hide my nerves.
He nods "Good, ehm, what time are you out today?"
"Three... why?" I answer.
"I'll make sure someone picks you up, might be me or Arthur, depends on my schedule."
"No Tom, you don't ha..."
"Vive, today someone picks you up. Outside the school, no one will see it." He says, meaning there's no room for discussion. I sigh before closing the door behind me. Part of me is actually relieved one of my brothers will pick me up from school.
*Later that day*
I'm already waiting for the last lesson to start, while the rest of my classmates are still eating their lunch. Today so far was exhausting. When I walked up the school today, I immediately knew Luke told other people about me. He was standing with his friends at the entrance of the school and when I walked past by they all started laughing and whispering things I couldn't understand. I tried to ignore the disgusting feeling it gave me but I couldn't help but felt a pit in my stomach the rest of the day.
"Alright, break is over!" I hear my teacher scream down the hallway. The others slowly enter the classroom and take their seat. Last but not least, Luke and his friends stumble into the class. Normally, he picks the seat next to me, but today he decides to sit on the other side of the room. Luke's friend Danny picks his place instead... great. Danny is one of those typical guys I'd like to avoid at all costs even when me and Luke were still okay. He always has something 'funny' to say at expense of another. Thanks to Luke I haven't really had real problems with him before but now I don't know what the status is.
Danny throws his bag half on his table and half mine, making my book and pencils fall on the ground.
"You not gonna say hello to me?" He says smirking at me while getting his stuff out on his table. I'm on the ground picking up my stuff.
"Heard you had an interesting start of your weekend hadn't ya?" He continues.
"Leave me alone." I respond trying to end this conversation before he goes any further.
"Leave ya alone?" He starts laughing out, putting his hands up in a fake defense. "God, don't worry about that."
I honestly can't believe that Luke told him about Friday. What have I done to him to deserve this. The way Danny speaks to me makes me wanna explode and suddenly I'm done with shutting my mouth up. In my head he's already dead.
"What's that tone, oi?" I say as I bend towards him.
"I mean you apparently look like some attacked animal without your clothes." He chuckles.
That said I don't hesitate and spit in the middle of his face. He's shocked for a second and before he wants to react our teacher intervenes. Luckily she didn't notice what I did, but only heard our mumbling.
"Vive and Danny, quiet. I want to start my class." She says.
I turn my head back to the book but can't resist making a last comment on him.
"What would you know fuckhead, bet you've never seen a women without clothes, unless you paid for it."
From the side I see his laugh changing into a smirk, not being so funny after all.
"Don't think I'll let you come away with this." He says while wiping his face dry with the sleeve of shirt.
"Danny? Last time, otherwise you can leave." My teacher screams our way.
The rest of the hour we're both quiet. I not focussed on the class at all. In my head I'm studying all possible scenarios of what will happen after this hour. When the class is dismissed I pack my bag as quick as possible and make my way out of the school, almost sprinting down the hallway.
Standing at the schoolyard I search the streets for one of my brothers. They were planning on picking me up right? I need to get out of here now. Just as decided for myself to leave by myself, running towards the house a voice screams my name. It's Luke. He's standing a few meters away from me and when I turn to him he gestures me to come. It's because I see he's alone that I walk up to him. Maybe he's finally in for an apology.
"Hey.." he says as I stand in front of him. "I'm sorry about Danny... can we talk?"
I nod while looking over his shoulder, searching for Danny and the other boys. "What'd you wanna talk about?"
He looks around him while striking through his hair with his hand. "Ehm, rather not here, somewhere quiet?" Luke points to the corner behind the school. We both know it's the only quiet place around the school.
"No, you can talk to me h..."
"Please, I want to talk in private?" He cuts me off. I'm not in the mood for a fight and think I'm safer with Luke than here on my own, so I walk towards the spot with him following me. As soon as I go around the corner I immediately notice we're not alone. Danny and the other boys already waited for us as they're standing close to each other with nasty smirks on their faces.
Fuck.
