Prologue

It started off as a joke really. It was meant to be completely harmless.

But it wasn't.

It messed with Ariel's head for years and now she can't seem to shake these weird thoughts out of her head.

"You and Jada would be an amazing couple, just imagine it," their friend Zaierra once said as a joke in middle school. It was around the time that everyone started to learn about more than one sexuality so the students started to pair the same sex together for fun. The girls with the girls, and the boys with the boys.

And Ariel sure did imagine. A lot. Maybe so much that she developed feelings for her best friend.

She tried everything. She dated 4 separate times and during each relationship all she was able to think about was her and Jada being in a perfect relationship. One filled with love, communication, and trust.

But unfortunately, Ariel is on the shy side of life. And of course she doesn't want to ruin a friendship that started a decade and some change ago just because of her not so platonic feelings towards her best friend.

So maybe that's why at the age of 24, she's still trying to hide those emotions. Maybe that's why at the age of 24 she's in a relationship with some chick that she has absolutely no romantic interest it. And maybe that's why at the ages of 22-24 she's been in a relationship with said chick and can't break up with her because the girl is definitely black mailing her.

This girl's name is Makena. Makena went to school with Ariel, Jada, Zaierra and their other friend called Chanel. She had somehow managed to wiggle her way into Ariel's friend list in the 9th grade, and steal her away from everyone else.

You see, Ariel is a bit slow and naive so she ain't know any better. She trusted Makena as if she knew her for years and told her things that she shouldn't have told her. She didn't even realize she was being pulled away from her friends until they had an intervention and called her out for....well for shutting them out. Jada in particular voiced her thoughts, sounding extremely hurt saying "we've known each other since the 4th grade and you're just gonna shut me out for someone you just met?"

The rest of that school year consisted of Ariel trying to get Makena to leave her alone. She clearly failed seeing as they're dating now. Makena was extremely persistent and never left Ariel alone for the remainder of high school, which for obvious reasons scared Ariel.

But the second Ariel and her friends graduated, they left their hometown for university and was able to leave Makena's weird ass behind. They started by blocking her on all social media so she wouldn't find out where they went to school at.

That only lasted between the ages of 18-21. No one knows exactly how Makena found what university they went too but she did. And she came strutting into Zaierra's dorm as her new roommate.

Zaierra damn near killed her

The girls know for a fact that she would've roomed with Ariel if she could, but thankfully Ariel was rooming with Jada. Zaierra was originally rooming with Chanel, who also pushed herself into their friend group but not in the way that Makena tried. Chanel genuinely loved all three girls like family and they felt the same way about her, but had to leave for personal reasons.

They never heard from Chanel after she left which kind of hurt their feelings but life is life.

So for a long time the girls hated Makena, and maybe some of them still do but decided to tolerate her for the sake of Ariel.

Without knowing what's really going on and of course Ariel couldn't say anything about it.

Honestly none of the friends are sure how Makena and Ariel got together. Shit, Ariel can barely remember, all she knows is that she never liked the bitch and never will.

Nevertheless Ariel is such a kind hearted person, a people pleaser if you will. She couldn't just have Makena confess her feelings and not accept them. It's clear that the blackmailing is for Makena to tie Ariel down, because she truly loves her.

Or at least that's what she led Ariel to believe.

Plus Ariel has made up the scenarios in her head with Jada rejecting her feelings and spent multiple nights crying over it. She couldn't let Makena feel the same way. Perhaps she's too selfless, too nice because Lord if it was me I would— shit, I'm just supposed to be narrating.

Anyways

As time goes on, Ariel falls harder and harder. She falls hard for Jada with her black curly hair, dark skin and round beautiful brown eyes. She falls hard for Jada with her amazing personality. She's kind, outgoing and oh so beautiful to Ariel.

No one can compare to Jada. She is what Ariel likes to label as an "Unparalleled Beauty." 

And who in their right mind would disagree with that statement after taking a look at Jada?
