"Madam Pomfrey, please," said Nova begging the healer. Madam Pomfrey shook her head at her glancing at her and the boy behind her, her eyes landing back on Nova with saddened look.
"We're taking no more chances," said Madam Pomfrey severely through a crack in the infirmary door. "There's every chance the attacker might come back to finish these people off. No, I'm sorry, dear...truly I am."
The door closed as Harry and Ron rubbed Nova's shoulders in a comforting way seeing her devasted expression. The three had tried to visit Hermione but to no avail. Visitors were now barred from the hospital wing.
With Dumbledore gone, fear had spread as never before, so that the sun warming the castle walls outside seemed to stop at the mullioned windows. There was barely a face to be seen in the school that didn't look worried and tense, and any laughter that rang through the corridors sounded shrill and unnatural and was quickly stifled.
Hagrid's hint about the spiders was far easier to understand – the trouble was, there didn't seem to be a single spider left in the castle to follow. The three tried to look everywhere for any sign of spiders, even a reluctant Ron.
The only downside was that they weren't allowed to wander off on their own and were always in a pack with other Gryffindors. Their classmates were thrilled by this as they had teachers taking them from class to class; Harry found it irksome.
"What's wrong?" said Nova as she approached the boys; Dean and Harry were holding on to Ron while Seamus was behind them. Nova was in Advance Charms when she finally came to them for Herbology lesson.
The whole ordeal affected Nova the most because of her advance classes. The only thing that was able to be done was to extend the advance classes on the days she had them meaning, instead of arriving for the last half of Double Potions with the Gryffindors and Slytherins, she would stay in Charms; the days she had advance Potions would be the same way but didn't really affect her seeing as she had free period after.
Seamus who went ahead of the three boys and went next to her as they continued to head to class gave her a look of annoyance much like the rest of the class.
"Malfoy," said Seamus as Nova then understood as they walked towards Herbology the boys telling her what had happened before heading to Herbology.
Draco Malfoy was strutting around the school as though he had just been appointed Head Boy. Harry didn't realize what he was so pleased about until that day at Potions lesson about two weeks after Dumbledore and Hagrid had left.
The boy was boasting about Dumbledore's departure and how things would turn out for the better now that the crazy headmaster was gone and how Professor McGonagall was just a fill unable to fill the shoes of a headmaster; the Slytherin boy even proposed that Snape should apply for headmaster and would surely win.
Malfoy even went as far as to mention why the Muggle-borns haven't left yet and that next would be a certain death for one of them which wasn't the cause of Ron's anger but what he had said after. 'Pity it wasn't Granger'
"He said what?" said Nova snapping her head towards them. They flinched when they saw the way her eyes showed pure anger that they practically glowed. Seamus, Harry and Dean were scared to say anything else while Ron huffed.
"I don't care anymore," said Ron still angry. "I don't need my wand I'm going to kill him with my bare hands."
"Oh, don't dirty your hands, Ron," said Nova calmly. Too calmly. The boys looked at her, even Ron. "There are delightful Charms that will make things much easier than dirtying our hands, don't you worry."
