August,2010
Starting a new school, my mom took me here just so I could sign up to this school. I was nervous. I was only 9 and I couldn't get over the fact that I was leaving my old friends and my old school, it was a catholic school but my mom couldn't pay the $800 fee for me to stay there for one year, every year, but you might ask where is my dad? Well, as a child, I thought he was a great dad, but he was hiding a very deep and bad secret. Even I was shocked. A few days later my mom found out, every night she would scream at him, as a small child that I was, I thought they were playing around.
Anyway, so that's why I'm here, signing up for a public school. Here they separated classes of each grade into 01, 02, 03 and 04. They would put new people into the 01 till it was full then they'll move down the list. I was going to start 4th grade and they put me in 401. Back then I didn't know the difference from each class, I thought they were all the same. So my mom signed me in and told me my class for this school year which was 2-3 weeks from now.
Now it's day 1, a redo in my school life, a new school, new friends, and new teachers. I walk into class and I see my new teacher, she looked nice but was the opposite of nice which I learned later on. Then I take a seat as a wave of children rush in, groups of friends take up tables that fit their friends or sat at seats near their friends. Then the teacher says for everyone to quiet down so she can take attendance. "Joshua, Matthew,.........." She went on and on till I was bored and looked at people and listened to their names and who they were and tried to remember them then I heard the teacher say "Miguel?" So I said here and raised my hand and some people looked at me since they never heard about me and thought I was new.
After attendance she did some paper work and everybody started talking, but not me, because first I was shy, and second, I didn't know what to do. I just sat there and looked at people like a stalker, which is even creepy to think about today, anyway back to the story. I observed what they were doing so I wanted to be like them and be their friends, but I didn't ask yet, I was still to shy. So I stayed to the outskirts like an outcast planning my way of attacking (asking them if we can be friends). Also a little off topic, my GF was moving to Florida, we both didn't want this to happen, but this was how God wanted my life to be (yes I'm Christian). So I said to keep myself together and looked at the future.
One week later my mom wanted to get me a middle name by going to the near by church. On the day, my mom had a list of names she was thinking about. After that long list, I chose Christopher(it's still my middle name) because I thought it was a cool name, also my little bro (4) also was getting baptized and he chose his middle name to be Oliver. Back at school, work was getting hard, i was expected to know concepts that I didn't but she still didn't re teach it so I spend hours till mid-night to fully complete it. I would tell her this and my mom sent notes to her to tell my teacher about it but the bitch that she was, she still wouldn't listen, I felt like to punch her.
Then one day she said she was switching seats. I was glad to sit next to someone new and maybe become friends with him/her then I started to shake due to my fright. I wait as I watch the class get discombobulated. "Miguel........ Sit next to Matthew" said the teacher. I actually thought someone will come to my seat not the other way around, but what I did on the first day kept me from fooling myself. So I sat there and came over my fears and started talking to him, and it actually went good so right then and there I made a friend which made me a lot less scared and made more friends. Still Matt was always there for me he'll help me in class and he'll also bring food for lunch which he would share with me. Then one day I hear the teacher say " Parent-teacher conferences tomorrow," and i was surprised how fast the last month went.
